Deeksha

Deeksha means ‘initiation’ or the direct transfer of spiritual energy by an avatar through a touch, a word or a look.

With a single gesture, an Avatar can cause a spontaneous, incredible transformation in us on every level. Miraculous healing of diseases, intellectual clicks, mystical experiences and the wiping out of lifetimes of karmas can happen in a matter of days – sometimes minutes!

Scriptural references

Deeksha is revered in the Vedic tradition as the ultimate gift that a master can confer upon his disciple on the spiritual path. In the ancient text Rudrayamala Tantra, Lord Shiva says:

The one who is not initiated does not attain liberation nor a better future. So by all efforts, one should get initiated by Guru.

Explanation When the transmission of knowledge happens entirely by the disciples’ effort, it is called a teaching. When the master puts in some effort and the disciple puts in most of the effort, it is called a technique. When the same knowledge is transmitted with only a little effort on the disciple’s part, it is called a process. When a disciple simply sits in the Master’s presence in a receptive and unclutched mood, and the experience itself is directly transmitted from the Master’s bio-memory to the disciple’s, without any effort from the disciple’s part, it is called initiation.

This experience could be anything – it could be physiological changes or psychological transformation or just conscious ecstasy or deep restful awareness.

Three kinds of initiation

The avatar initiates you in three ways – through a look (Nayana deeksha or chakshu deeksha), through a word (Mantra deeksha) or through touch (Sparsha deeksha).

Nayana Deeksha

For highly receptive disciple, even a side-glance from the Master’s eyes is an initiation. Such a glance is revered in Vedic tradition as ‘Guru kataasksham’.

Mantra Deeksha

In the East, language has always been used not only to communicate information, but to transmit certain vibrations. Sanskrit, the world’s oldest living language, is highly phonetic in nature. Certain syllables or combinations of syllables in Sanskrit are called Mantras. Each mantra carries a unique vibrational power.

When a Avatar gives you Mantra deeksha, he transmits the vibrational power of the mantra to you. The vibrations of the mantra straightaway penetrate your being and start working on you, even if you don’t understand their meaning.

Sparsha Deeksha

Certain specialized kinds of initiation, like the initiation into becoming a spiritual healer, require direct physical contact for the transmission of bio-memory. This kind of initiation usually involves the Guru placing his hand upon the disciple’s head, heart chakra, or brow chakra and forcing the energy to move inwards and upwards. This is known as sparsha deeksha – initiation through touch.

Deeksha is the most effortless and blissful way to raise our spiritual frequency. A moment’s deeksha received in a mood of intense surrender can bring about more irreversible transformation in your life than years of meditation and spiritual practice.

Redesigning your software and hardware

Deeksha works on three levels – the conscious mind, the unconscious mind and the physical body.

Even in the absence of a master, the conscious mind can be cleared by the right teachings, by removing the wrong ideas and taking in clear and correct ideas. The unconscious mind can be cleansed by meditation techniques. But ultimately, for the software change to be permanent, the hardware also has to change. The very brain grooves have to change to hold and radiate the experience of living enlightenment. This can happen through deeksha.

When a master touches and initiates you, not only is the software of enlightened physiology downloaded into you, but the hardware, the brain itself, will be tuned to hold this new software by the grace of the master. If you are completely open during the touch, the software of enlightened physiology can be downloaded into you, changing your very physiology. Your body learns that it can be better than what it is now! When you have the grace of the master, both the hardware and software can be totally changed.

Deeksha and Kundalini Awakening

Deeksha results in the spontaneous awakening of the Kundalini, our own highest inner potential energy. Research in neuroscience has proved that deeksha floods the body and brain with Kundalini energy.

When Kundalini ascends the spine through the sushumna nadi (the main channel of subtle energy), it results in a huge energy influx into the brain. As it flows from the thalamus to the cortex, Kundalini sets up a powerful energy loop within the brain which awakens the latent, non-mechanical parts which we have never used before. With increasing levels of coherence, the whole brain comes alive, turning into a superconductor of conscious energies that heal, empower and transform our lives. Enhanced awareness levels, greater creativity and extraordinary abilities start to express through us like levitation, teleportation and materialization. This influx of superconscious energy also visibly slows down the ageing process and improve immunity to disease.

Initiation manifests your deepest desires

Initiation has the power to open up your real desires and empower them to become reality. If your blueprint is carrying a desire for money, it will open up and fill you with money, if your blueprint is seeking for God or for Guru you will have that, if your blueprint is searching for extraordinary powers you will have that.

Initiation is like hatching the egg that you are – into the bird that you can be.

The Master hatches you through all these three- through his teachings, through constant remembrance of you wherever you are, and through his initiation. He hatches you into a new being. He makes you into very his Self.

Benefits of group initiation

Group initiation is a tremendous experience! When a cohesive group of people sit together in a mood of meditation and receptivity, their systems fall into a deep harmonious resonance with each other. The whole group is like one organic entity. Moreover, each of you is individually in entanglement with me, with the Source. Each of you is like a spoke of the wheel, all attached to central hub which is the source of cosmic energy. So every time I initiate once person in the group, the same energy is instantaneously transmitted to the entire group.

So when you sit in 21 sessions of Inner Awakening, as part of a group of 100 participants, you are actually receiving 2,100 initiations!!

Group initiation has one more benefit. When I initiate you, I loosen and activate your bio-memory, preparing it for learning new things. So when you see somebody else expressing an extraordinary power like levitation, your bio-memory learns that such a possibility exists. Within a few days, your bio-memory picks up that particular power – even if you have not received that particular initiation from me! Science of Deeksha

The Principle of Entanglement

Entanglement is a term used in quantum theory to describe the way that particles of energy/matter can become correlated to interact with each other in predictable ways, regardless of how far apart they are. Which means that the state and actions of one of these particles can influence the state and actions of the other through the process of interference.

Entanglement is the principle behind all processes involving energy transfer, whether spiritual healing, kundalini awakening, levitation, teleportation or materialization.

An enlightened being has the power to raise others into his own elevated state by the subtle pressure of his presence. When the mind of the receiver comes in touch with the no-mind (thought-free mind) of such a being, a process similar to entanglement happens, and thoughts subside in the mind of the receiver. Entanglement happens when the receiver is mentally in tune with the source and is open to receiving the energy. eg. during spiritual healing.

When entanglement happens at the deeper level of muscle-memory, Nithyananda gives it the name ‘Entrainment’. During Kundalini awakening, entanglement can happen irrespective of the mental state of the receiver.

During initiation, entanglement penetrates the bio-memory of the receiver. That is why initiation has permanent physiological and psychological effects. Nithyananda calls this Enlightenment, in the sense that during the moment of initiation, the receiver actually experiences a space identical to that of the enlightened being. But lacking the yogic body and nervous system to retain this space, the receiver gradually loses the experience through energy ‘leaks’.

With repeated initiations, the powerful positive experience is bolted into your body and becomes part of your bio-memory, releasing you from negative mental patterns that you have carried for many lives.

Initiation and the Brain

Neuroplastic science says that your brain has the ability to create new grooves and pathways. Which means that the possibility for becoming a new consciousness exists.

Initiation can change not just your mind, but your very brain. With initiation, your brain develops subtle grooves to hold and radiate the energy of enlightenment. If it is only a psychological transformation, it could leave you after a few weeks or months. But initiation is not just psychological but physiological transformation. The experience becomes your very bio-memory, so there is no more scope for conflict. Apart from the brain and neural pathways, we have a network of 72,000 nadis or energy channels through which Kundalini energy and the subtle information essential to our conscious evolution can be transmitted. Of these, the koorma nadi, a channel running from the tip of the middle finger right up to the heart is the koorma nadi, the nadi through which the glimpse of enlightenment is released by the Master and received by the disciple during initiation.

Initiation awakens your DNA

Medical science has established that we have 12 strands of DNA, but only two of these strands are active! An avatar is a being who has awakened all 12 strands of his DNA. Through initiation, an Avatar can simply alter your existing DNA and activate your unused DNA strands. The true purpose of this so-called ‘junk DNA’ is to support a multi-dimensional consciousness, and initiation awakens this possibility.

initiation is like a intense downloading into you. When your DNA is activated, the knowledge and consciousness and information in the avatar’s bio memory can be effortlessly transmitted to you without any conventional methods. With every new strand awakened, you start experiencing freedom from negative engrams, intellectual and spiritual clarity, physical health, anti-ageing and the expression `of extraordinary powers.

Karmic cleansing and reprogramming

Every deeksha at Inner Awakening is an extraordinary spectacle of energy play that could last for hours . During deeksha, Nithyananda creates an explosion of superconscious energy, using divyashareeris (mediums or energy channels) to intensify the spiritual process. Releasing more than 15 times the usual power through his body, he channels it through the divyashareeris to reach the participants from every angle.

Nithyananda says, “When the energy channels sit in a circle around me in a mood of deep devotion and surrender, I am able to penetrate right through their physical bodies. They become divyashareeris, extensions of my own physical body. So when a participant enters this elevated space, he is enveloped by my physical body itself, not just my energy body. If he is totally open and receptive, I can use that high-possibility moment to simply wipe out his negative bio-memories and create a blissful, strong bio-memory through karmic cleansing and reprogramming. To the extent that the participant is receptive, he can experience physical and mental transformation.”

The group energy during deeksha is so intense that more than 80% of the participants receive the initiation spontaneously, even before they are touched and initiated! For most participants, deeksha is a never-before experience of intense kundalini awakening in a perfectly safe environment.

Sharing the Experience

Only from a fire can another fire be lit. Only from a living master can the transmission of the lamp happen.

A master who is on the subtle plane may be able to offer you spiritual guidance, but for the experience to settle in you as a physical reality, it has to be transmitted from a body which is vibrating at the same frequency as your own. Only the already reprogrammed DNA of the living master can transmit that frequency and reprogram your DNA. Only a living bio-memory can share its experience directly with yours through a look, a word or a touch of initiation.

Initiation is the final push

No matter how much knowledge you have gathered, no matter how many spiritual experiences you have, the ultimate breaking open of the limited identity does not happen without deeksha. The ego will never be ready to commit suicide! That final push has to happen from the Master. When an avatar initiates you, he pushes you into the same state, the same highest conscious coherence as he is established in.

On your part, it is nothing needs to be done but opening your being to the Master. For a disciple who is available to the Master, a single moment of initiation can destroy many lifetimes of conditioning. Initiation is like setting fire to an enormous pile of cotton. No matter how enormous the pile of your karma, it takes only a single spark of initiation to destroy it. All you need to do is allow it to be burnt!

Research on Inner Awakening Participants (2011)

In a breakthrough series of studies conducted in 2011, the benefits of Kundalini initiation were systematically recorded under controlled conditions in close to 600 individuals attending an intensive yoga and meditation retreat at Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam’s international headquarters near Bangalore,India.

Findings

• 1. Cellular energy levels assessed through mitochondrial tests:

Mitochondria are the energy powerhouses of the human cell. Mitochondrial activity in the cell is a precise indicator of the individual’s metabolism rate and energy levels. 100% of the participants in this particular study recorded a drastic increase in energy levels, averaging 967%. Studies have shown that such an increase is clearly impossible through any other known means, such as exercise, yoga or fitness training, which can effect a maximum of 50% increase in cellular energy.

• 2. Healing of physical ailments

Rapid recovery from a range of physical ailments was observed, also indicating enhanced immunity levels: 100% of participants recorded significant weight loss 100% of participants recorded recovery from eating disorders 100% of participants recorded recovery from chronic fatigue 92% of participants showed marked recovery from rheumatoid arthritis 78% of participants showed marked recovery from osteo-arthritis 79% of participants showed marked recovery from asthma 71% of participants showed marked recovery from chronic headaches Participants also recorded lowering of fasting blood sugar, decreased BMI and improvement in psychosomatic illnesses and auto-immune diseases.

• 3. Healing of psychological disorders

Decreased dependency on medication and enhanced sense of well-being 97% of participants reported recovery from depression 89% of participants reported freedom from phobias 82% of participants reported freedom from anger and frustration 88% of participants showed marked recovery from insomnia 76 % of participants reported recovery from panic attacks 76% of participants reported freedom from insecurity 73 % of participants reported an increase in mental focus 71% of participants reported freedom from mood swings

Neurological changes through QEEG studies

A series of QEEG studies were also conducted on participants who had Kundalini initiation to study the effects of Kundalini Awakening on electrical activity in the brain. The same studies were also conducted on a control group. These included: Short term effects observed at the moment of initiation by Paramahamsa Nithyananda Long term effects measured through post-activation assessment of various mental and cognitive functions

Findings: At the moment of initiation, certain instantaneous changes were recorded in all participants who had active Kundalini awakening, including:

• sharper focusing abilities
• higher alertness levels
• extremely rapid multi-processing
• better short-term memory

Significantly, the brain waves of subjects during the activation showed a high incidence of delta waves, indicating that they were in a state of deep relaxation comparable to sleep. In Vedic science, this state of intense restful awareness is known as Samadhi. Post-activation assessment conclusively showed: QEEG studies of participants showing high incidence of delta waves, indicative of deep relaxation

• 4. Genetic Transformation – breakthrough results

DNA is as essential molecule found in all human cells, which controls the body’s growth, structure, metabolism and immune functions. It carries the genetic information passed on from generation to generation.

Human beings have about 25,000 genes, of which only 5% are actively expressed and functional. Differential gene expression studies conducted on Inner Awakening participants before and after the program registered the spontaneous expression of new genes – a phenomenon that is impossible to reproduce through any other known means.

Findings:

• Greatly increased immune modulation
• Increased immunity to cancer
• Clinical improvement in rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions
• Significant recovery from asthma
• Significant improvements in memory

5. Extraordinary abilities – materialization Materialization is the creation of matter from energy. In the only known instance of materialization on our planet today, a vast range of objects were materialized by Paramahamsa Nithyananda, channeled through the bodies of receptive individuals. Materials ranging from vibhuti (sacred ash) and kumkum (holy vermilion) to solid objects like diamond, pearl, solidified mercury, etc. were produced through devotees who were either physically present or communicating with Paramahamsa Nithyananda through video-conferencing. Three different scientific tests were conducted on a volunteer through whom Nithyananda consistently materialized objects:

• Whole body CT scan
• Simultaneous QEEG of Paramahamsa Nithyananda and the subject

FIindings: Whole body CT scans taken before and after Kundalini Awakening clearly shows the sudden appearance of a radio-opaque foreign body in the oral cavity on repeat scan without any delay or repositioning after the energy transfer from Nithyananda to the subject. QEEG recording of both Nithyananda and the subject done showed “Entrainment” (Synchronicity) in the brain waves of both individuals during the process of materialization, showing that a process of attunement was indeed taking place at the time.
