A large banner on the left advertises Kalpataru with Tamil text and event details. Two tall vertical banners flank the gate, each showing a long-haired figure in orange robes and a beaded necklace, which are printed portraits rather than people. A large horizontal banner on bamboo poles is held up over the crowd; it shows a portrait of a smiling man with a saffron-orange turban and ornate gold beaded necklace, with blue-and-white background and Tamil text. Below the banner, about seven men in white shirts and white dhotis stand watching; the man at left wears a dark beaded mala and another holds a phone to his ear. A white van and cars are parked behind them. The banner portrait shows a printed image, not a physical person; the men in front are the physical people present.2007-01-12Outdoor street scene at a Tamil Nadu event, a crowd of men in white dhotis and shirts and women in white saris with gold borders lines a dirt road. A woman in a cream sari with gold border holds a brass tray with a kalasha-like arrangement, flowers and offerings, while a small girl in white stands beside her with hands folded. A large banner behind shows a framed portrait of a smiling woman in orange and Tamil text reading Kalpaga Tharu. Bamboo scaffolding, string lights and a tent canopy appear at right, with parked motorcycles at left.2009-08-03November 25 20062006-11-25November 25 20062006-11-25Outdoor photo at a street-side centre inauguration: a large blue signboard reads in Tamil "Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam Chengam" with a portrait labelled "Paramahamsa Nithyananda" showing a smiling woman in orange with beads, framed by white and red flower garlands. Beneath it a banner says "Varuga! Varuga!!" (Come! Come!!). On the right, a man in an orange robe and white flower garland stands before the sign, pulling a cloth covering to unveil it. A crowd of men, women and children in white shirts, saris and striped clothing watches, and a banana leaf hangs in the foreground.2009-08-06April 17 20112011-04-17January 06 20132013-01-06
