A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with thick aerial roots and sprawling branches at an outdoor shrine. Several people in white and saffron-orange clothing stand on a dark polished stone platform around white-painted raised bases. A man in white with a yellow sash holds a tray of flowers, and a figure in orange robes with a shawl stands near the tree in prayer. Golden poles or lamp stands and white pillars stand nearby, and a trail of flowers rests on the ground.2009-12-27A large banyan tree dominates the frame, its thick trunks, aerial roots and sprawling horizontal limbs spreading across the courtyard. At the base of the trunk, a small dark cavity sits beside a low stone platform with a tiled step. A single person wearing an orange robe stands at the right edge near the tree, facing toward the trunk. A small blue sign with white lettering is mounted at the base of the tree, and a black stone slab lies in the foreground. Low walls and orange-tinted buildings surround the open sandy ground.2011-02-12December 31 20082008-12-31December 03 20092009-12-03Outdoor photo beneath a large ancient banyan tree with dense aerial roots and sprawling limbs. A group of about eight people stands on a dark polished stone platform around the trunk, several in saffron/orange robes and others in white dhotis and white shirts. One orange-robed figure in the centre raises an arm toward the branches, while others stand with hands folded or stand attentively. A golden tall stand or lamp post is visible at the left edge, and white-painted circular bases surround the tree. Sandy ground with decorative white kolam-style lines lies at the bottom of the frame.2009-12-27A figure in a flowing saffron-orange robe stands with their back to the camera, facing a large ancient banyan tree with thick, twisting aerial roots and buttress trunks. The figure's long dark hair is visible, and the person stands on a white-painted raised platform within a circular white-edged ground of red earth. Nearby a small white structure and a dark reflective tiled surface lie at the lower left, with a few other small figures in the far background at right. The scene suggests a sacred tree shrine with devotees paying homage at the trunk.2008-12-31A large old banyan tree with many thick aerial roots and hanging prop roots fills the right side of an outdoor courtyard of reddish-brown earth. A lone standing figure in a saffron-orange dhoti and matching orange shawl, with a bare upper body, stands on a dark stone slab at the left, hands folded in front of the chest in a prayer gesture. Small stone platforms with raised edges surround the tree trunks, and a low tree-trunk stump with white offerings sits at the base. Trees and sky fill the background. The figure's face and hair are not clearly visible, so their identity cannot be determined.2011-09-02A large old banyan tree with many thick aerial roots and spreading branches forms a shaded grove. At the base of the trunk, a small raised stone platform holds a figure in white ritual cloth with an orange-trimmed shawl and a garland of flowers hanging nearby; the figure appears to be a devotee or priest in white, with the identity of any person uncertain. A dark polished stone floor lies in the foreground, and sunlight filters through the leaves.2010-08-07A large old banyan tree with thick aerial roots and spreading branches dominates an outdoor courtyard. A woman in an orange saffron garment with a floral garland stands on a dark tiled platform, holding a small offering or lamp. In the left foreground a woman with long dark wavy hair wears a flowing saffron-orange garment and presses her body against the tree trunk with her arms wrapped around it, while a man in white clothing stands in the background at the left edge. Dry leaves cover the sandy ground.2011-02-20A large banyan tree with many aerial roots and spreading branches dominates the outdoor scene.
