A large banyan tree dominates the frame, its thick trunks, aerial roots and sprawling horizontal limbs spreading across the courtyard. At the base of the trunk, a small dark cavity sits beside a low stone platform with a tiled step. A single person wearing an orange robe stands at the right edge near the tree, facing toward the trunk. A small blue sign with white lettering is mounted at the base of the tree, and a black stone slab lies in the foreground. Low walls and orange-tinted buildings surround the open sandy ground.2011-02-12A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots and thick trunks forming a shrine-like hollow at its base, with a small raised stone platform and a dark recessed niche beneath. In the left foreground a woman with long dark wavy hair wears a flowing saffron-orange garment and presses her body against the tree trunk with her arms wrapped around it, while a man in white clothing stands in the background at the left edge. Dry leaves cover the sandy ground.2011-02-20October 07 20062006-10-07A person in an orange saffron wrap, bare-backed and barefoot, walks toward a massive banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and a dark hollow shrine opening at its base. The person holds a long staff and the sandy ground is bare around the tree. The figure's head is visible from behind with dark hair. Greenery and a small structure appear in the background.2006-10-25A large old banyan tree with many thick aerial roots and hanging prop roots fills the right side of an outdoor courtyard of reddish-brown earth. A lone standing figure in a saffron-orange dhoti and matching orange shawl, with a bare upper body, stands on a dark stone slab at the left, hands folded in front of the chest in a prayer gesture. Small stone platforms with raised edges surround the tree trunks, and a low tree-trunk stump with white offerings sits at the base. Trees and sky fill the background. The figure's face and hair are not clearly visible, so their identity cannot be determined.2011-09-02A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with many aerial roots and spreading branches in an open courtyard. A single person stands with their back to the camera on a dark polished stone platform, wearing a saffron-orange robe wrapped over the shoulders and an orange lower garment, with a dark mala around the neck. The person faces the trunk, which is encircled by a low raised stone platform. A small printed sign sits at the base of the tree. Dry earth, a white pole and a hanging rope are visible to the right, with a red brick wall in the background.2011-02-08A photograph of a large old banyan tree with many aerial roots and sweeping branches, growing from circular raised stone platforms with red earth. On the left, a figure in an orange saffron garment with hands pressed together in prayer stands at the edge of the frame. The orange cloth wraps the upper body and the head is covered with dark hair tied back. Hanging cords and a thin hanging root run through the center of the tree.2011-09-19A photograph of a large, sprawling banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots and thick spreading branches over bare sandy ground. In the foreground a young person with long dark hair and a red bindi stands in an orange saffron robe with a white crutch under one arm. To the right edge, an older man in white clothes with an orange shawl stands partly cut off. The person in the orange robe has long swept hair, a bindi and saffron clothing, but the appearance is not distinctive enough to confirm an identity, so the candidate is marked unsure.2006-10-07December 31 20082008-12-31A large banyan tree with many aerial roots and spreading branches dominates the outdoor scene. A single person in orange ochre clothing, a wrapped top and loose orange garment, with long dark hair and bare feet, stands with their back to the camera on a dark polished stone platform facing the trunk. A small purple garland hangs near the base of the tree, and a low circular stone platform surrounds the trunk. Metal poles stand around the tree and a sandy ground with white kolam-style floor art appears at the right edge.2011-01-23 +1 copiesAugust 29 20112011-08-29 +1 copiesAugust 29 20112011-08-29 +1 copies
