A large round sweet offering on a tray, decorated with rings of colored pieces: yellow, white and orange sliced pieces around the rim, pink, blue and red petal-shaped candies in the center, pistachio-like green pieces and a border of red cherry-like sweets and dark berries. Behind it, a coconut half, a flower-filled plate and orange-clad feet are visible. No people's faces are visible.2009-12-23December 03 20092009-12-03December 23 20092009-12-23Close-up photograph of a ritual offering on an orange cloth in front of a golden ornate frame. A tray holds a carved vegetable peacock made of orange carrot-like material with a green-tipped beak and white flower crest, set on a pineapple, with carrot slices, cucumber, coconut, betel-leaf greens, yellow marigold flowers, and a small oil lamp burning in front. Behind, a pineapple, grapes, bananas, and a white flower garland hang near a woman in a brown top with palms pressed together in namaste, and a tray of fruit sits further back. The scene suggests a devotional offering, with the ornate golden palanquin or throne frame in the background.2010-12-20December 25 20152015-12-25December 23 20092009-12-23December 20 20102010-12-20A homa ritual in a covered hall with a fire pit at lower centre, flames rising from offerings of flowers, sweets and leaves. Four men stand behind the table in saffron-orange robes with rudraksha malas and beaded necklaces, one with a bare shaved head. To their left a priest in white dhoti and a man in a cream shawl stand near a robed attendant with a crossbody bag. Several men in white kurtas and dhotis stand further back, and a man at the far right in white holds a lamp-like tray. Sandy ground surrounds the scene.2011-01-16
