November 27 20092009-11-27Close photo of a ritual setting: a hand with a multicolour thread bracelet rests on a coconut wrapped in brown fibre and dressed with gold chain ornaments and fringed gold tassels, set on a white plate heaped with red and orange flower petals. Surrounding items include a brass bowl, a silver tray with red flowers, yellow and red marigold garlands, folded cloth in brown and gold tones, and an ornate silver-embossed object at the upper right. The partially visible person wears a white garment and sits barefoot.2015-10-18Close photograph of hands making offerings over a spread of silver and gold ritual vessels on a tray. A person in orange robes on the left rests their bare, dark hands on the tray edge. Beside them, a woman wearing gold bangles and a beaded bracelet places pink lotus flowers and green leaves among the containers. Scattered apples and white petals fill the foreground, and a small golden kalasha-style vessel sits at centre. The scene suggests a puja offering or annadan preparation.2010-11-09A photo of a padapuja-style offering: a figure in orange cloth sits on a gold-framed seat with red and white flower garlands draped over the orange garment. In the foreground, a silver tray holds red roses, white jasmine-type flowers, green leaves and gold-coloured fruit or bead-like offerings, beside a lit silver oil lamp with a flame. Two hands in white or cream sleeves hold a small silver vessel and reach toward the tray. Only hands and partial limbs of people are visible. The scene is set on a red cloth with a gold chair in the background.2009-12-08Close-up photo of a ritual offering being made at a temple. A bare-torsoed priest with a beaded rudraksha-style necklace and an orange-striped cloth holds a brass kalasha-style vessel and pours water while a woman in a gold zari sari with a gold bangle and a ring extends her hand over a brass plate. The plate holds ripe yellow bananas, a coconut wrapped in fibre, and a green cloth with tassels. Other hands are visible at the edges, and the scene is intimate and focused on the offering.2012-05-16September 14 20152015-09-14November 20 20112011-11-20A photograph of a padapuja ritual. A person in white clothing and a red-beaded wrist band holds a silver plate with flower petals and a silver spoon-like vessel, pouring or offering over bare feet resting on a golden-brown ornate platform. The feet belong to a figure in saffron-orange robes wearing a multi-coloured beaded necklace; their face is not visible. Pink and red rose petals scatter across the silver plate and gilded base. Another person's arm, adorned with a silver bangle, reaches in from the left. A small brass dish of kumkum or vermilion sits at the left edge.2009-09-07A close photo of a padapuja ritual: a pair of bare feet, smeared with white paste, rest on a golden tray while several hands pour water over them from silver vessels. One hand holds pink lotus flowers, and water streams down past a red-and-green thread on the ankle. The person whose feet are being washed wears no visible face in frame; in the foreground a dark-haired head is partly visible at right. A woman in an orange-and-white outfit with a green-trimmed border and gold bangles pours water, and a man in an orange robe also stands beside the tray. Silver bowls with offerings sit at the bottom of the frame.2010-10-30 +1 copiesClose-up photograph of a pair of bare feet in an orange garment resting on a ritual tray during a padapuja. The feet are placed among white flower petals, pink rose petals and green leaves on a silver plate. Gold-coloured rudraksha-style beads or a gold mala lie on the tray beside a small framed portrait photo and a red apple in a silver bowl. Silver bowls with shredded white offerings and a silver spoon surround the scene. The person's face is not visible, so no identification is made, and the feet belong to a person in orange robes.2010-09-20Close-up photo of a ceremonial tray on a red velvet cloth beside an ornate gold throne. A silver tray holds gold-coloured bells, white jasmine-style flower strands and red roses with green leaves. A silver oil lamp with a flame and a silver cup sit at the right. Hands of attendants in white and cream clothing handle the offerings. At the left, a figure in orange clothing wears a garland of red roses and white flowers at the waist, but the face is not visible, so a person cannot be confirmed by appearance.2009-12-08November 23 20092009-11-23
