2003 - Sacred collection UncategorizedOctober 08 20062006-10-08Outdoor photograph beneath a large banyan tree with dense aerial roots and dappled shade. A man in a saffron-orange robe and matching orange turban sits cross-legged on a raised concrete platform, bare-chested from the waist up, with hands raised in a teaching or blessing gesture. Beside him a small oil lamp and brass vessels sit on a cloth. To the right, a stone deity murti or Shiva lingam is draped in red cloth and garlanded with white flowers, with marigold-like petals scattered on its base. About nine men in white dhotis and shirts stand and sit under the tree, some with hands joined in namaskar, while a few seated devotees wear light clothing on a red mat. The scene reads as a ritual or satsang at a sacred banyan site.Outdoor photo under large shady trees of a ritual at a rock-side shrine.
