A photograph of men bathing in a churning, white-frothed river. Many men are splashing and wading waist-deep, some with bare chests and dark swim shorts, one man in a white vest, another in a green shirt, and one in a dark tee on the left holding a chain or rope. A man in the foreground at lower right, bare-shouldered, looks toward the left and laughs. Water sprays up around them. A woman in a blue top appears at the left edge. No a person candidate is clearly identifiable from appearance, and no ritual setting is visible beyond the river bathing.2014-07-27June 04 20162016-06-04 +1 copiesJune 02 20162016-06-02 +2 copiesApril 29 20182018-04-29June 04 20162016-06-04June 04 20162016-06-04A photograph of a sacred bathing ghat at the sea edge, with a white railed stone pier and pink-topped pillars. Many people stand on the pier looking down, while others wade in the shallow water among metal railings and wooden posts. Several bathers wear red, orange and green cloths, and one woman in the water has long dark hair. A man in a saffron-orange cloth stands near the steps on the pier, and a bald elderly man in a green cloth stands at the edge. The scene is a ritual dip at a coastal temple ghat under a pale sky.2018-04-29A crowd of shirtless men bathes in a churning spray of white water, several laughing and shielding their faces from the splashes. In the foreground, men in white vests and a man with a red-and-white rudraksha-style cord around his neck stand close together. Behind them, others in colourful striped wraps and a blue shirt watch and stand at the water's edge. No a person candidate is clearly visible, so the figures are described by role only as bathers and onlookers.2014-07-27December 21 20152015-12-21A photograph of a shore ritual at the water's edge. In the foreground a bare-chested man wearing a rust-orange rudraksha mala and a white sacred thread kneels in red cloth, his hand pressed on the back of a person lying face-down in shallow surf, dark hair spread on the water. Blurred figures in white dhotis and a green sari stand on the sand behind them.2018-04-28July 27 20142014-07-27December 21 20152015-12-21
