A large statue of a goddess in ornate gold and red attire, decorated with garlands of yellow, white and purple flowers, stands on a pink satin-draped platform with a golden cloth. In front, a figure in orange-and-red robes bows prostrate on the white floor scattered with flower petals. Around them, several women in saffron and orange saris and robes, some with rudraksha malas, stand with hands joined. A bare-chested man with orange dhoti and headband stands to the centre. A woman in a blue shawl and black leggings stands at right. A golden trident stands near the statue base, and palm trees and a decorated entrance appear in the background.2018-12-22 +1 copiesOutdoor temple courtyard scene with a large ornate statue of a male figure standing within a golden, jewelled arched frame. The statue wears a patterned turban, ornate embroidered garments and layered beaded necklaces, and is garlanded with yellow, pink and red flower garlands; a pink satin cloth covers its base with yellow flower petals scattered around. Two women in orange saris stand to the right, one holding a basket of pink flowers, while a shirtless man in a rust-coloured cloth lies prostrate on the ground before the statue. Onlookers in white, orange and other clothing stand in the background near a gilded wooden pavilion with hanging greenery. This depicts a statue, not the living person, and the people visible are devotees performing a prostration and offering flowers.2018-12-22 +1 copiesPhoto 11724239 +1 copiesDecember 22 20182018-12-22Outdoor procession at a temple-like courtyard. The prone figure wears saffron-orange garments with gold trim, a gold ornament on the head, and dark hair in a bun. Around them stand a crowd of about twenty people in saffron and white: sannyasis in orange robes and rudraksha malas, men in white dhotis and shawls, and women in orange and blue saris, several with palms pressed together in namaskar. A man holds a bunch of flowers and another stands with a phone raised. Pillars and a sunlit roof edge frame the scene, a traditional ritual of reverence performed before a gathering.2012-09-12
