A large banyan tree with dense green leaves, many thick spreading branches and numerous hanging aerial roots forms the main subject, filling most of the frame. Beneath and around it, a few people stand on sandy ground: a man in a white shirt and white trousers stands at left near the trunk, and several figures in white and orange clothing stand toward the lower right, some with their backs to the camera. A small orange-clad figure and light-coloured clothing appear near the right edge.
