Outdoor scene at a large banyan tree with many thick aerial roots wrapping a stone shrine or sanctum at its base. A stone slab roof sits over a dark opening in the stone structure. In the foreground a woman in a red top and patterned wrap skirt, with hair tied back and a garland, holds a white paper or sheet. Behind her to the left a man in white clothes stands near a small metal tray, and a metal bowl sits at the left edge beside a dug earth pit. Red soil surrounds the shrine, and a metal railing runs along the background among green trees.2014-06-06January 09 20182018-01-09A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots and thick trunks forming a shrine-like hollow at its base, with a small raised stone platform and a dark recessed niche beneath. In the left foreground a woman with long dark wavy hair wears a flowing saffron-orange garment and presses her body against the tree trunk with her arms wrapped around it, while a man in white clothing stands in the background at the left edge. Dry leaves cover the sandy ground.2011-02-20A large old banyan tree with dense aerial roots and sprawling branches dominates the outdoor scene, its roots exposed around a dug-out earthen pit. In the foreground at lower left, a woman with long dark hair and a red-and-brown patterned skirt holds a lit oil lamp or flame near a small wooden stand bearing offerings. A man in white clothes kneels on the roots near the centre, holding a camera. A metal railing and a low stone platform sit behind. The setting suggests a tree puja at a sacred banyan.2014-06-06September 05 20092009-09-05June 06 20142014-06-06A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with thick aerial roots and sprawling branches at an outdoor temple grounds. Behind her a person in white sits on a raised stone platform with a camera, and in the foreground a shaved-headed man in saffron-orange robes with a rudraksha mala stands at the left edge. Metal railings, sand-coloured earth, and prayer mats surround the sacred tree area.2014-06-06A photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and spreading branches over a bare, sandy ground. A figure in orange robes with a white flower garland stands at left, extending an arm upward toward the branches and appearing to sprinkle or offer something. A small red bag and a low stone border sit on the ground near the trunk, with a dark hollow at the base of the tree. The person appears to be a devotee or ritual practitioner; the appearance is not clear enough to identify anyone.2006-12-30January 09 20192019-01-09A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with thick aerial roots and spreading branches over a sandy earthen clearing. At left, a person seen from behind wears a flower garland of white and red blooms over bare shoulders and a saffron-orange dhoti, holding something near a small oil lamp or fire on the ground in front of the tree. A blue signboard at the base reads a directive about a sacred tree area. No other people are visible.2006-12-29January 22 20112011-01-22 +1 copiesDecember 31 20082008-12-31
