A photograph of a person in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl with maroon borders, bare-backed, standing barefoot and pressed against the massive trunk of a banyan tree with dense aerial roots. The figure wears a rudraksha mala around the neck and leans forward with hands on the bark. At the base of the tree is a small stone shrine recess with a dark opening, set on a sandy ground with stone platforms nearby. The figure's face is not visible, so identity cannot be determined from appearance.2011-02-11January 04 20152015-01-04December 30 20092009-12-30April 05 20122012-04-05A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with dense, sprawling aerial roots and a thick trunk. A figure in a flowing red-orange sari with a gold border stands at the right, facing the tree, with bare feet and gold-toned bangles on the arm, long dark hair falling down the back. The figure appears to be in quiet devotion before the tree, which has a small dark opening at its base; a white stone platform and a red cloth are at the lower right. The setting is an outdoor grove with sunlight on the bark.2012-04-05April 05 20122012-04-05A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots and thick trunks forming a shrine-like hollow at its base, with a small raised stone platform and a dark recessed niche beneath. In the left foreground a woman with long dark wavy hair wears a flowing saffron-orange garment and presses her body against the tree trunk with her arms wrapped around it, while a man in white clothing stands in the background at the left edge. A stone slab roof sits over a dark opening in the stone structure. In the foreground a woman in a red top and patterned wrap skirt, with hair tied back and a garland, holds a white paper or sheet. Behind her to the left a man in white clothes stands near a small metal tray, and a metal bowl sits at the left edge beside a dug earth pit. Red soil surrounds the shrine, and a metal railing runs along the background among green trees.2014-06-06 +1 copiesSeptember 10 20112011-09-10
