A large, sprawling banyan tree with many spreading horizontal branches and dense green leaves fills the frame, its aerial prop roots hanging down around a reddish-brown earthen ground. Circular low white-painted stone borders surround the tree bases. No people are clearly visible; a small figure may be partly hidden in the shade at the centre-right, but it is not distinct. Pale grey trunks rise at the right edge. Bright sky shows through gaps in the canopy.
