A lone standing figure in a saffron-orange dhoti and matching orange shawl, with a bare upper body, stands on a dark stone slab at the left, hands folded in front of the chest in a prayer gesture. Small stone platforms with raised edges surround the tree trunks, and a low tree-trunk stump with white offerings sits at the base. Trees and sky fill the background. The figure's face and hair are not clearly visible, so their identity cannot be determined.2011-09-02A photograph of a large ancient banyan tree with thick aerial roots and spreading branches over a sandy earthen clearing. At left, a person seen from behind wears a flower garland of white and red blooms over bare shoulders and a saffron-orange dhoti, holding something near a small oil lamp or fire on the ground in front of the tree. A blue signboard at the base reads a directive about a sacred tree area. No other people are visible.2006-12-29March 20 20132013-03-20December 31 20082008-12-31Outdoor photo beneath a large ancient banyan tree with dense aerial roots and sprawling limbs. A group of about eight people stands on a dark polished stone platform around the trunk, several in saffron/orange robes and others in white dhotis and white shirts. One orange-robed figure in the centre raises an arm toward the branches, while others stand with hands folded or stand attentively. A golden tall stand or lamp post is visible at the left edge, and white-painted circular bases surround the tree. Sandy ground with decorative white kolam-style lines lies at the bottom of the frame.2009-12-27
