A standing devotee in a flowing orange saffron wrap, with long dark hair and a green leaf garland over the shoulder, faces the trunk while holding a lit oil lamp or offering. Yellow and orange marigold garlands hang on the roots. A standing figure in an orange sleeveless top and orange dhoti, with long dark hair, wears a multicoloured flower garland of red, yellow, white and purple blooms and faces the trunk with head bowed. Two similar flower garlands hang from roots at left, and a person in orange clothing is partially visible at the lower left edge, tending offerings. Swamiji (probable): the standing figure has long swept-back hair and saffron ceremonial clothing with a garland, consistent with a sannyasi performing worship at the sacred tree.2009-12-23A photo of a person in orange saffron robes standing barefoot on a dark stone slab beside a large old banyan tree with thick hanging aerial roots. The person wears a long multi-coloured garland of white, yellow, red and purple flowers, plus rudraksha beads, with long dark hair and eyes lowered. Around the white-painted platform at the tree's base are a brass bell, a plate of flowers and more flower garlands draped on the trunk. A second robed figure in orange stands at the left edge of the frame. Sandy ground surrounds the scene.2009-12-23A photograph of a large banyan tree with thick, twisting aerial roots, wrapped with garlands of yellow marigold and pink and white flowers hung in swags around its trunk. A single person stands at the base of the tree on a raised white stone platform, wearing a sleeveless red top and an orange-saffron wrap, long dark hair down, barefoot. Loose flowers lie on the platform and ground. Bare earth, a white wall and a metal pole are visible in the background.2009-07-07July 07 20092009-07-07
