December 31 20082008-12-31A figure in a flowing saffron-orange robe stands with their back to the camera, facing a large ancient banyan tree with thick, twisting aerial roots and buttress trunks. The figure's long dark hair is visible, and the person stands on a white-painted raised platform within a circular white-edged ground of red earth. Nearby a small white structure and a dark reflective tiled surface lie at the lower left, with a few other small figures in the far background at right. The scene suggests a sacred tree shrine with devotees paying homage at the trunk.2008-12-31Outdoor photo beneath a huge banyan tree with thick aerial roots wrapping its trunk. A standing devotee in a flowing orange saffron wrap, with long dark hair and a green leaf garland over the shoulder, faces the trunk while holding a lit oil lamp or offering. Yellow and orange marigold garlands hang on the roots. In the foreground at right, a white cloth covers a seated or offered object beside an orange cushion, a small brass vessel and a stone base, with white kolam designs on the ground. Another orange-clad figure stands at the far right edge. The scene shows an outdoor puja at a sacred tree.2007-12-22December 30 20092009-12-30December 31 20082008-12-31A photograph of a person in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl with maroon borders, bare-backed, standing barefoot and pressed against the massive trunk of a banyan tree with dense aerial roots. The figure wears a rudraksha mala around the neck and leans forward with hands on the bark. At the base of the tree is a small stone shrine recess with a dark opening, set on a sandy ground with stone platforms nearby. The figure's face is not visible, so identity cannot be determined from appearance.2011-02-11December 26 20062006-12-26December 23 20092009-12-23November 18 20102010-11-18 +1 copiesA photograph taken at dusk or night of a barefoot figure in orange robes and a rust-red shawl with long dark hair, standing with their back to the camera and embracing or leaning against the massive trunk of a banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots. Small white flowers lie scattered on the dirt ground at the base of the trunk. A partially visible person in white clothing stands at the far left edge. The figure in orange has long, swept-back hair and a shawl, a person appearance, but the face is not visible. Dim lighting and a sandy clearing surround the tree.2007-02-25December 31 20082008-12-31Photograph taken at night of a figure seen from behind, standing barefoot on a low white stone platform at the base of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots. The person has long dark hair and wears a white garland around the neck, an orange upper garment and an orange lower wrap. Strands of yellow, magenta and white flower garlands hang from the tree trunk. Loose red petals and leaves lie on the ground. The figure is facing the trunk, appearing to offer worship at the sacred tree. Appearance-based cues are limited because only the back is visible.2009-11-19
