A man in a long white robe and white dhoti bends forward, lifting a long-handled spade-like tool to dig into fresh reddish soil; a shovel lies in the dirt. Around him stand about six men watching: an older man in a checked blue lungi and bare feet, a man in white shirt and white dhoti with a red border, a man in a light blue shirt and grey trousers with a pink towel over his shoulder, and a man in a blue checked shirt. Yellow bricks lined along the bottom edge are decorated with pink and yellow flowers and petals.2002-01-01 +1 copiesOutdoor groundbreaking ceremony on grassy land with scrub vegetation behind. Beside him a woman in a cream and brown sari with a pale head covering stands barefoot, looking down at the ground. A row of men in white shirts and dhotis and light-coloured shirts stands watching, hands folded. At the right, an older man with grey hair wears a blue-and-white checked lungi and a grey shawl. Yellow flower offerings lie at the lower left edge beside the fresh earth, and a small white box sits on a stool near the group, consistent with a bhoomi puja ground-breaking ceremony.2002-11-04Outdoor groundbreaking or foundation work on a dirt plot beside a small red building with a green metal roof, palm trees and a flag on a pole behind. An older man with white hair, in white dhoti and white shirt, bends low and digs with a pickaxe at a marked line in the soil, with a small pile of earth and red powder beside him. A younger man in a white shirt and white dhoti stands holding a long iron rod upright, with an umbrella hanging from his arm. Another man in white with an orange shawl stands at the left, and a young man in a checked shirt and jeans stands nearby.
