The central woman wears an orange sari with a maroon border, a dark beaded mala, and a white vertical line on her forehead, and looks toward the offerings. Behind her, a woman in an orange sari holds a silver tray of puja items and oil lamps. On the right, women with pressed palms and white forehead marks sit in sari and salwar clothing. In the foreground, a silver plate holds fruit, sweets and small bowls, and a raised arm holds incense or a lamp. The scene is a group devotional ritual with silver puja vessels.2010-12-27Indoor gathering of many seated women in traditional Indian dress, holding small lit oil lamps and offering plates during what appears to be an aarti or lamp offering. Foreground woman in a rust-orange sari with a red bindi and beaded necklaces, holding a lit lamp with raised hand; beside her a woman in orange holds a lamp on a plate. Behind, women wear white and cream saris with gold borders, one in a yellow shawl, and several wear white headbands with rudraksha-style malas. Brass plates and diyas sit on the floor.
