A large banyan tree dominates the frame, its wide spreading canopy of dark green leaves and many hanging aerial roots forming a dense shade. White painted support poles hold up branches over a circular platform with a raised reddish-brown earthen base. At the far left, a small figure in orange and red clothing stands near a red-coloured mound, and a white-clad person is visible near the base of the tree at lower centre. The scene is an outdoor temple setting beneath the banyan.
