In the foreground at lower left, a woman with long dark hair and a red-and-brown patterned skirt holds a lit oil lamp or flame near a small wooden stand bearing offerings. A man in white clothes kneels on the roots near the centre, holding a camera. A metal railing and a low stone platform sit behind. The setting suggests a tree puja at a sacred banyan.2014-06-06A large, sprawling banyan tree dominates the scene, its many thick grey branches spreading wide over a sandy courtyard with aerial prop roots hanging down. A woman in a white sari with a coloured border stands at the base of the trunk with hands folded in prayer. On the right, a black stone statue of a seated figure wearing an orange robe and a red-and-orange headpiece, draped with a yellow-orange garland, sits on a red-orange rocky pedestal. Concrete rings surround the tree bases and a small blue sign is visible near the trunk.2010-08-08June 06 20142014-06-06June 06 20142014-06-06A photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and prop roots spreading across a sandy ground. A standing man in saffron-orange robes and bare feet leans against the trunk with his hands clasped, a beaded mala around his neck. A white chalk kolam or geometric floor drawing with a trident-like motif is painted on the ground at the base, beside a small stone slab. Green leaves and bright daylight fill the background. The man's hair is short and his figure is not distinctly adorned, so no appearance-based identification is made.2011-02-01February 05 20152015-02-05August 02 20162016-08-02 +1 copiesJune 06 20142014-06-06A photograph of a large banyan tree with sprawling branches and hanging aerial roots at an outdoor ashram setting. Beneath the tree, a seated crowd of devotees sits on the ground, many in orange and saffron clothing, with some in white. A priest or attendant in orange stands at right beside a shrine decorated with garlands in red, white and green and a metal ornamental base. Strings of orange and saffron flags hang from the branches. Several people stand near the right edge beside the shrine.2006-10-21September 09 20162016-09-09
