October 08 20122012-10-08A photograph of a man in a dim hall performing aarti with a tiered brass oil lamp (deepa) holding many lit flames. He is bald, wears a saffron-orange robe over his shoulder, has a tilak on his forehead and wears glasses. He stands in profile on the right, holding the lamp's curved handle with both hands. A dark curtain and a wall-mounted speaker are behind him, and a white cylindrical stand sits at left. Person's presentation is shaved-headed priest in orange robes, lacking distinctive a person cues, so identity uncertain.2011-12-13October 27 20122012-10-27A photograph of a tiered brass aarti lamp held aloft against a dark background. Multiple rows of small oil lamps with bright flames stack upward toward a central lamp on top, and smoke curls above. Only a partial hand grips the curved handle at the bottom edge of the frame, with a ring visible on a finger. No face is visible. The scene suggests an evening aarti ritual, shown by the lamp alone.2016-12-15A tiered brass lamp stand with five circular dishes holds many lit oil lamps, glowing against a dark red curtain background. Its tall stem is decorated with ornate carving. A dark silhouette of a person's head and shoulders, in a black garment, is partly visible at the lower left, holding the stand. No a person candidate is visible; the scene shows only the lamp stand and the held lamp.2016-12-23December 07 20162016-12-07A shaved-headed man in rust-brown robes and a dark rudraksha mala stands in profile, holding a tall silver multi-tiered aarti lamp with many lit oil lamps while gazing upward. Behind him, a second man in white clothing stands partly visible against a golden-brown draped curtain, with a deep red curtain on the right. The priest's role is that of an aarti performer, offering light ritually. The image is a photograph of a single ceremonial moment with two people visible.2014-07-16February 03 20132013-02-03January 28 20132013-01-28December 15 20112011-12-15A tiered brass aarti lamp with multiple tiers of lit oil lamps (diyas) burning against a dark background. Flames rise from the rounded plates at each level, with a small lamp at the top. A hand holding a small brass vessel pours or tends the lamp at the right edge. No people are clearly visible beyond the hand and partial arm, and no a person candidate is visible.2011-09-20August 04 20172017-08-04
