Night photo at an outdoor temple entrance under a corrugated roof, with a red sign reading Sri Nagathamman Aalayam above framed deity pictures. A row of about a dozen men and women stand along a yellow railing in white shirts, dhotis, a yellow-and-white striped shirt and a grey shirt. On the right, a bare-chested man in an orange dhoti holds a microphone to his mouth, appearing to address the group. Fluorescent lights and a bright flash light the scene. The image is a photograph of a real gathering.2006-10-31October 31 20062006-10-31Night outdoor scene at an open ground under a bright floodlight on a tall pole. At left, a canopy with colourful triangular bunting shelters a raised platform where several men in saffron and orange robes stand near a golden ceremonial object. In the centre, a crowd of men in white shirts, checked shirts and jeans stands in a line facing the platform, some with hands folded. Women in yellow and orange saris stand among them. A cameraman operates a video camera on a tripod. A figure in full white clothing stands at right, and string lights are strung across the background trees.2011-11-092004-SPH-JGM-Vijaya-Yatra-To-Malaysia-And-Singapore +2 copiesOctober 10 20062006-10-10November 09 20112011-11-09January 11 20092009-01-11November 09 20112011-11-09Night outdoor gathering under a bright floodlight beside a decorated open-sided stage canopy with a string of multicolored triangular pennants. Several men in saffron/orange robes sit on the raised stage at left, and a few people in white and yellow stand near a gold ceremonial seat. A long line of men and boys in white shirts, checked shirts, lungis and dhotis stands on dry ground facing the stage, some with hands folded. Strings of red lights run across the background among palm and tree silhouettes, with a loudspeaker on a tripod in the middle distance.2011-11-09January 11 20092009-01-11A photograph taken inside a temple hall at night, with a crowd of devotees standing along a stone pillar beneath a row of painted deity panels. In the centre, a figure in an orange-saffron robe and a matching orange turban wears a long garland of white and pink flowers with green and red blooms. Their appearance, with long hair and the saffron robe, is consistent with the sannyasi candidate, though this is uncertain. Beside them a bare-chested young man in a brown wrap and an older man in a teal checked lungi stand with hands folded. Men in white dhotis and shirts surround them, and a camera operator is visible at the right edge. The composition is cluttered and the saffron figure's identity is not clear from the image.2007-08-17April 05 20122012-04-05
