April 05 20122012-04-05A night-time photograph of a crowded temple precinct with a stone temple gopuram and carved pillars at left. In the centre a palanquin-like float with a multicoloured striped canopy carries a figure seated among a ring of marigold and flower garlands, surrounded by a dense throng. A uniformed police officer in khaki with a blue-banded cap stands in the foreground. Near the right edge, a bald man in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl wears a gold-toned necklace and a rudraksha-style mala, and a shaven-headed man in saffron robes with bead necklaces stands beside him. Devotees in white dhotis, a bare-chested man with a sacred thread, and men in lungis and shirts fill the crowd, and a woman in red holds a tray of fruit at left.2012-04-05April 05 20122012-04-05May 10 20122012-05-10February 06 20172017-02-06April 05 20122012-04-05May 21 20122012-05-21April 05 20122012-04-05Night photo of a procession walking over a brick-paved temple courtyard. Several saffron-robed monks in orange dhotis and shawls walk barefoot, one centre figure wearing an orange-red robe, a rudraksha-style mala and a bead-adorned headpiece. Khaki-uniformed police officers in belts flank the group, and a bare-chested attendant in a white dhoti on the left holds up an ornate golden kalasha-like plate. Men and women in white and purple saris follow in the background under dim temple pillars. The image appears to be a photograph of a procession rather than a poster or graphic.2012-05-21Photograph inside a temple corridor with dark stone pillars and colourful deity shrines visible in the background. In the centre, a bare-chested man in a red and white dhoti with a blue shawl carries a brass aarti plate with a lit oil lamp. Beside him, a uniformed official in khaki with a belt walks forward. On the right, a man in orange robes and a gold necklace walks beside a man in white. Behind them, several people in orange and white walk through the corridor, including a woman in red wearing a garland. The scene suggests a temple procession or darshan visit with an aarti being carried.2009-07-13Night photograph at a South Indian temple, with lit pillared halls, colourful string lights and a lit tower behind a crowd. At centre, a bearded man with long dark hair and ochre-red robes, wearing a rudraksha mala and gold pendant, walks barefoot beside a uniformed police officer in khaki who gestures forward. Around them, men in saffron-orange robes with garlands carry a brass vessel and cloth, a man in white dhoti walks at left, and a bare-chested man in orange cloth wears rudraksha beads and a gold chain at right. Visitors fill the background.2017-02-06Night photograph of a crowd walking through the outer courtyard of a South Indian temple with lit lamps and a gopuram-style shrine roof in the background. In the foreground, a uniformed police officer in khaki with a cap and belt walks in front. Behind him, a saffron-robed sannyasi wears an orange turban and rudraksha malas and carries nothing visible, flanked by men in orange and white dhotis with garlands and a woman in a yellow top. Devotees in white dhotis and saris follow along the processional path.2008-01-02
