At the base sits a small concrete platform holding a row of lit oil lamps, with more small lamps scattered on the ground around it. No people are clearly visible in the frame apart from a partial hand at the right edge. The scene suggests a traditional lamp-lighting offering at a sacred tree, with the warm glow of the flames contrasting the dark background.2015-11-25April 24 20132013-04-24Photo 11734405Night photograph of an outdoor shrine at the base of a large banyan tree with hanging aerial roots. A single oil lamp burns on a raised stone or clay platform at the trunk, and in the foreground a round woven basket holds several lit clay oil lamps arranged in a flower-like cluster, with small yellow flowers scattered on the stone floor. A partial figure in orange clothing appears at the right edge. No clearly visible faces; the lamps and tree dominate the warm, dark scene.2022-12-06December 24 20072007-12-24November 19 20182018-11-19 +1 copiesA photograph of a dark opening in a large banyan tree, its thick aerial roots wrapped around the entrance. A single flame burns in a shallow oil lamp inside the cavity, glowing against the darkness. Strands of marigold and chrysanthemum garlands in yellow, white, magenta and purple hang across the tree roots above. Stone blocks frame the entrance at the bottom, and a blue sign with white capital letters reading DO NO is partly visible at the right. No people are visible.2011-08-18April 24 20132013-04-24A large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and thick grey trunks stands at the centre. A garland of yellow, red, purple and green flowers hangs from a trunk above a low stone platform with a dark opening at its base. A dark polished stone floor runs across the lower foreground, and no people are visible.2010-10-05
