Several people wade waist-deep in the water around the float, some pushing or steadying it, and one figure at the left side holds a light. Behind is a tiered wall of small lamps or pots lining the tank steps, with string lights along the right edge. Other people's appearance cannot be confirmed; no visible candidate is clearly identifiable.2016-01-04Night photograph of an illuminated ornate float (theppam) gliding across dark water in a stone-stepped tank or reservoir, lit with strings of fairy lights overhead. The float has a lit canopy and a decorated front alcove with a standing deity murti, and a seated figure in saffron-orange robes sits centrally on a red cushioned seat amid flowers and lamps. Several people in light clothing wade or stand in the water beside and behind the float, and empty tiered steps and railings line the background.2010-12-30A night photograph of a floral-decorated ceremonial float, a ratha-like platform, floating on dark water in a tank. A seated figure in orange-saffron robes sits on a red-cushioned throne under an ornate arch decorated with yellow, white and purple flower garlands and a painted bird motif. Two flower arrangements flank the arch, and strings of colourful garlands hang from the platform. Two people wade in the water beside the float, and the bright lights reflect on the surface. Brick wall behind. The seated figure is the central subject; whether this is a person is not established from appearance alone.2011-12-22
