A small square concrete structure under construction, with grey plastered walls, a tiled roof edge and loose bricks laid along its top and base, stands on red earth. Bamboo or timber poles with lashed cross-beams frame it, and palm trees and green foliage rise behind. Stacked bricks, rebar and a pile of cut timber lie nearby. No people are visible.2006-12-12November 16 20062006-11-16A photograph of a vast open field covered with rows of small square brick fire pits, each lined with red bricks and holding ash or sand at its centre. The pits extend across the ground toward a red barrier fence in the background. A few people in light clothing are visible at the far edge near the fence, and the foreground shows dry, pale earth. The setup suggests a large-scale homa or fire ritual arrangement, though no active fire or priest is visible.2007-07-22Photograph looking down into a square brick-lined pit or foundation excavation at a construction site. The brick walls are grey and weathered with lighter mortar patches, and the floor is loose sandy earth in shadow. The pit rim is whitewashed concrete, and a white tarpaulin or sack lies at the lower edge. No people are visible; the image shows ground-level construction work at the aadheenam.2006-12-12Rows of red clay bricks laid out on bare, sandy ground, each brick stack topped with a bundle of dried wooden sticks and twigs tied together with twine. Some bundles are bound with fibrous cord and some are loose. No people are visible; the scene is an outdoor arrangement of brick platforms with kindling bundles, set on dry earth with scattered twigs.2007-07-22A photograph of many small brick fire pits laid out across bare, sandy ground for a homa. Each pit is a square ring of orange-red bricks with yellow lichen-like marks, some holding bundles of dry sticks and twisted straw or husk offerings. The nearest pit has a bundle of white sticks inside and a brick marked with white chalk numerals and a red dot. Neat wooden kindling lies in the foreground. No people are visible.2007-07-22A close photograph of a freshly dug circular pit in reddish-brown laterite soil, with scattered small gravel stones and loose clods. A pale grey concrete block sits at the upper edge of the excavation, and a few dry grass stems lie on the ground. A small purple logo appears in the upper-left corner. No people are visible; the scene is an outdoor earthwork or foundation dig.2016-09-15November 23 20162016-11-23A photograph of an excavated square pit dug into reddish-brown earth on open ground. The pit has clean vertical walls and a small amount of muddy water pooled at its base. Loose soil and clumps of dirt are piled around the rim, and patches of green grass grow along the edges. No people or ritual activity are visible.2006-12-10Photo 11689709A photograph of a young man in a dark navy shirt and dark trousers bending over a sandy ground, sprinkling yellow powder from a small bowl onto rows of red clay bricks arranged in square and rectangular enclosures. The bricks are dusted with yellow turmeric-like powder, and dry brown material fills the centre of one enclosure. Another person in dark trousers stands barefoot in the background among more brick frames. No clearly identifiable a person is visible.2007-07-22July 16 20062006-07-16 +1 copies
