Photo 11742779Night procession at a temple or ashram where a large painted deity murti with yellow face, golden arms, crown and pink-and-gold garment is carried on a raised platform. Several men in the foreground hold it and attend it; one bare-chested man in a white dhoti with gold border stands at left, while others wear orange and red saffron cloths and white garments. Bright torch or lamp lights glare in the dark background. A man in a white shirt with white shawl sits at right. No clearly identifiable a person candidate is visible based on appearance.2017-09-30October 14 20132013-10-14April 25 20132013-04-25Night photograph of a line of devotees descending stone steps beside a dark tank or pool, with a lit lamp-lined structure at upper left. Women in white saris with orange and yellow borders and men in white dhotis and orange or saffron shawls walk in a row, several with hands folded. A devotee in an orange garment and a white-clad figure near the right edge carry or hold items. Small oil lamps and a few artificial lights illuminate the scene. The setting suggests a Karthikai Deepam observance, though no lamps are clearly lit in a lamp-bearing ritual here.2008-12-11September 30 20172017-09-30September 15 20162016-09-15Night procession photographed from a low angle. A large deity murti of Devi with a golden crown and green-gold headdress, a yellow floral garland and pink-and-green embroidered garments is carried high on shoulders. Beside it a second painted murti with white face and a red-and-gold headdress is also lifted. Men in orange robes stand at left, and a bare-chested man in a white dhoti with gold border supports the figures from the front. A lamp glows in the background and a man in a white dhoti at right watches. Visible people are shown in the photo.2017-09-30Night-time outdoor ritual at the edge of dark water with palm trees silhouetted behind. A figure with hair tied up in a bun wears an orange-saffron cloth draped over one shoulder and ornate gold-bordered orange garments, holding a brass plate of yellow flowers and offerings while extending a hand toward the water. Nearby, a shaved-headed man in orange and gold holds another offering plate, and a man in white dhoti with a bare upper body and a red can stands to the left, a figure with yellow-green powder on his face and body stands at the far left, and a cameraman in orange holds a camera with an attached monitor filming the scene. Scattered powder colours and garlands suggest a festival procession at a riverbank or tank.2011-10-06April 25 20132013-04-25January 23 20072007-01-23 +1 copiesOctober 17 20102010-10-17
