December 11 20112011-12-11A photograph of a ritual offering on a gold-carved wooden platform before a tiger-striped backdrop. A pair of bare feet in orange-and-gold cloth rests on the platform's edge at top. Around a round tray are many small silver bowls of pink and red powders, rose petals, and a flower arrangement. A young man in white with rudraksha beads and white forehead markings holds a small cup. A woman in orange with white forehead marks and a bangle dips into a bowl, and another woman in orange holds a small bowl of yellow liquid. A child with white markings on the arms reaches toward the tray. Dried fruit and sweets are arranged among the bowls. The setting appears to be an ashram puja.2013-08-13Close photograph of a padapuja ritual. A man in white ritual clothes and a red tilak on his forehead, wearing rudraksha malas, pours water from a silver vessel over a devotee's bare feet while another hand holds a silver cup. The feet rest on a gold-coloured tray with red and orange flower petals, silver bowls and a copper vessel. A woman in a gold-trimmed sari and bangles is visible at the lower left and another person at the lower right.2011-11-20March 07 20132013-03-07December 11 20112011-12-11February 01 20152015-02-01Inside a dimly lit hall, a seated figure in orange-saffron robes with a white and orange flower garland has bare feet resting on a gold-coloured platform. Around the foot-level offerings, several devotees sit or kneel with hands extended, holding incense sticks and small stemmed offerings. Brass and silver trays on a gold-coloured tray hold red-tipped flower petals, white flowers, small bowls, incense, and kumkum-style red items. Oil lamps glow in the background behind the group, and people in white shirts and a woman with long blonde hair in dark red clothing watch closely. This appears to be a puja performed at the feet of a guru, with padapuja offerings.2011-12-11November 20 20112011-11-20A close photo of a padapuja ritual: a pair of bare feet, smeared with white paste, rest on a golden tray while several hands pour water over them from silver vessels. One hand holds pink lotus flowers, and water streams down past a red-and-green thread on the ankle. The person whose feet are being washed wears no visible face in frame; in the foreground a dark-haired head is partly visible at right. A woman in an orange-and-white outfit with a green-trimmed border and gold bangles pours water, and a man in an orange robe also stands beside the tray. Silver bowls with offerings sit at the bottom of the frame.2010-10-30 +1 copiesClose-up photo of a ritual offering with several pairs of hands holding small silver cups and pouring liquid into a large silver tray filled with silver bowls, a red apple, pink flower petals and a yellow heap of grains. A person in an orange garment with gold border, possibly a sannyasi's robe, stands at left with bare feet near the tray. Other people in white and cream clothing, gold bangles and a rudraksha-like bead necklace stand around the offering, with one person's hands clasped at lower left. The setting suggests a puja or abhishekam offering.2011-12-10Close-up photograph of a padapuja ritual in which a bare foot is being washed. A person in an orange garment is partly visible at upper left, and a bare foot rests on a golden tray scattered with white jasmine flowers, green leaves and pink lotus petals. A woman wearing gold bangles pours liquid from a clear glass cup over the foot, while another hand holds a silver bowl of milk and a silver vessel with a lid above. The gold and silver ritual vessels surround the foot in a bright setting.2010-10-16 +1 copiesDecember 07 20092009-12-07
