Many young children and teenagers in orange and saffron clothing, with rudraksha malas, sit on the ground in rows facing a raised dais. A man seated on the dais wears an orange robe and a tall dark crown-like headpiece and speaks into a microphone. Brass lamps with hanging chains and a brass kalasha-like bowl filled with white flowers and a red petal stand in the foreground. A woman in red sits to the side, and a shaved-headed man in orange sits in front, writing in a notebook. Brass bells and ornate golden elements hang near the dais.2016-01-11A photograph of a large outdoor ritual gathering under a open-sided pavilion. Many seated devotees, mostly young men and boys, face a raised platform. Most wear saffron orange upper cloths with red-and-gold borders over white dhotis, and several wear rudraksha malas. On the platform, two men in white dhotis and white shawls sit before a small ritual setup, one with a bowl and one holding an object. Behind them stand a decorated shrine with a deity murti, red-and-white striped pillars, potted plants and a brass kalasha-like vessel. The scene suggests a puja or ceremonial sitting.2016-08-18A crowded outdoor ritual scene in front of a large black stone Nandi bull statue draped with red, white and yellow flower garlands, set on a red platform beside red-walled shrine buildings with corrugated roofs and palm trees. Many devotees, mostly women, sit closely packed on the ground in cream, white and gold saris and orange clothing, many wearing rudraksha malas and kumkum or bindi marks. A monk in orange robes sits in the foreground with a mala, and a bald man in white stands on the far left of the shrine area. Several figures move among the seated crowd, and a robed attendant stands in the background near the shrine.2017-09-27Photo 11711471January 01 20172017-01-01A group of young shaved-headed ascetics in saffron-orange dhotis and wraps, with rudraksha malas and white tripundra markings on their foreheads, sit on a white floor mat performing a seated ritual. Several hold brass lamps or ritual implements over small plates of fruit and sweets on low wooden stands. Behind them, men in white dhotis and shirts, some wearing red shawls, sit with hands folded in prayer. The setting looks like a hall with a tiled floor and a blue cloth strip on the floor.2013-11-18Outdoor photograph of a group of children and young men in orange and saffron robes gathered around a seated man on a white circular stone platform. The central seated man wears a rust-orange shawl with gold border, a rudraksha mala, and holds a yellow cloth or paper; he is barefoot and smiling. Behind him stand many boys in orange dhotis with rudraksha beads, while a few girls in red and black clothing stand among them. A white-haired elder in white head covering is at the left edge, and a few devotees in orange sit at the lower left. Background shows bougainvillea, trees, a green gate and a red building. A pink cloth lies on the ground at lower right.2013-11-15September 19 20162016-09-19September 14 20162016-09-14 +1 copiesAugust 08 20172017-08-08
