Seated on a raised red-cushioned platform at the right, a bare-chested man with long dark hair and a crown-like headpiece sits in meditation, with a bronze Nataraja (dancing Shiva) statue and a framed deity painting on the wall behind him. A ceremonial trident leans beside the platform. Below, a dense audience of over a hundred devotees sits on the floor, many women in orange, red and saffron saris and shawls, plus men in white; some wear rudraksha or beaded necklaces. Brass lamps and flower offerings sit near the front. Pillars with hanging lights frame the scene.2017-01-25Photo 11705302A large crowd sits and stands in prayer, hands pressed together in namaste, in a courtyard before a tall grey stone wall and a pink-painted wall topped with stone lions. In the centre, a shaved-headed man in white dhoti and white shirt sits beside a man in orange robes and rudraksha malas on a green patterned mat. Further right, several saffron-robed sannyasis and devotees in orange and white sit in meditative posture, one with long dark hair and rudraksha garlands. Many devotees in white and yellow clothing surround them, and a woman in red and gold sari sits at left. No identifiable a person is distinguishable by appearance cues, so the central figures are described by role only.2010-01-08A large outdoor gathering of devotees seated and standing with palms pressed together in namaste. In the foreground, four saffron-robed sannyasis sit in prayer; the centre-front figure has a white forehead band and long dark hair, wears heavy gold beaded necklaces and a rudraksha mala, and holds his hands folded. Behind them, many devotees wear white clothes with yellow shawls and rudraksha malas, and women wear saris and salwar kameez. A bald man with a white beard and glasses sits among them. Marigold and flower offerings lie on the ground at the lower left. The scene appears to be a ritual gathering with devotees in prayer.2010-01-08
