November 29 20202020-11-29A night photograph of a bearded man with a tall ornate red-and-gold crown and rudraksha beads on his chest, holding a lit oil lamp flame toward a large golden vessel above. He has white horizontal markings on his bare shoulder and arm. Behind him, another figure in orange-red cloth stands in warm lamplight. The caption reads Bharani Deepam Celebrations. Appearance cues are not distinctive enough to name him; the page indicates a person attended, but the crown and bead adornments are not sufficient to confirm presence. Warm glow and dark background.2020-11-29Photograph of a seated ritual in a dim temple hall. A man in a maroon turban with gold border, maroon-and-gold shawl and a large rudraksha mala raises a silver lamp with a flame in his right hand, while other ritual participants in saffron-orange robes with beaded malas sit behind him. Brass bowls holding yellow and white offerings, incense sticks and a lit oil lamp sit in the foreground, and a gold-trimmed cabinet stands in the background. The scene reads as an aarti during puja.2014-09-06 +1 copiesNovember 29 20202020-11-29Two men in saffron-orange robes hold clay oil lamps with lit flames at a night ritual, with the flames rising between them. The man on the left has a full dark beard, smiles, and wears a dark rudraksha mala and a long gold-coloured bead necklace over his bare upper body. The man on the right, shown partly cropped, wears a similar brown bead mala and orange cloth and holds his lamp with both hands. Blurred figures and warm golden lights fill the background.2020-11-29A photograph of a temple ritual with an oil lamp flame. A man in a maroon-brown turban with a crescent ornament and a large multicoloured flower garland holds a lit lamp in cupped hands, his head bowed. Beside him a second person in an orange saffron cloth, with hair in a bun and white sacred ash marks on the arm, holds a flame. Carved dark wooden pillars frame the scene, with smoke haze in the air. The dim setting suggests a puja or aarti.2017-12-02Night photograph of an outdoor ritual at a person ashram. A bare-chested young man in an orange turban and orange dhoti, with a rudraksha mala around his neck, holds an object near a flame while looking up. Behind him stands a bearded man in an orange-brown robe, with another man and several women in red and orange robes behind them, one with hands in anjali. A decorated umbrella-like canopy with red, white, yellow and blue fringe stands on a pole at left, and a flame rises at upper right beside colourful string lights. The scene suggests an aarti or fire ritual with the flame as its focus.2018-01-04October 13 20132013-10-13Night ritual photograph in a dim temple setting. A bare-chested priest in an orange-red waist cloth and orange head wrap holds a lit multi-wick oil lamp (aarti) in one hand and a small bell in the other, facing forward. Beside him a second man in orange cloth and rudraksha beads holds another lit lamp, and a third orange-clad figure stands at the left edge beside a tall brass lamp stand. Behind them is a large silver-and-gold ornamented arch framing a silver deity murti with a trident, and green palm fronds appear at the right. Smoke or haze hangs in the air. The three visible men wear saffron-orange garments with rudraksha malas and no shown swami-style crown or swept hair, so identity is uncertain and they are described by role.2017-08-25October 29 20162016-10-29December 05 20142014-12-05October 31 20162016-10-31
