A man in saffron robes and gold necklace raises a brass aarti lamp with a bright flame high in his right hand. Beside him, an older man in white dhoti and shirt holds a small brass bell and stands with hands folded. To the right, a man in a saffron turban and rudraksha mala stands with palms pressed together in prayer. Further right, another saffron-clad figure stands in profile. He wears a heavy gold bead necklace, rudraksha-style beads on the upper arm, gold earrings and a red tilak on his forehead, while holding a small brass oil lamp with a lit wick in one hand and a metal vessel in the other. Bright flames rise from a brass bowl in the foreground, consistent with a homa or puja fire, and a partly visible figure in orange sits at the left edge against a dark background. The man appears to be a priest performing the rite rather than a depicted or distinctively identified figure.2014-01-05Night-time ritual outdoors where a woman in a saffron-orange shawl and matching head wrap holds a brass oil lamp with a lit flame toward a bare-chested priest in a white dhoti and red waist cloth beside her.
