A street procession in an Indian town, with saffron-robed sannyasis walking on a paved road past a parked silver minivan. A central man in a red-orange shawl wears a rudraksha mala and a large gold ceremonial necklace, smiling, raising one hand in blessing and holding a pink lotus. Beside him a bearded sannyasi in orange holds a tall silver trident-topped staff, and other orange-robed followers walk barefoot. Men in white dhotis with red sashes and rudraksha beads follow behind. In the centre-right, a smiling man in saffron-orange robes wears a long rudraksha mala and a gold ceremonial necklace, with a white bandage on one arm and red-and-white tilak on his forehead; the page suggests this may be a person, though his appearance alone is not conclusive. To the left, a man in saffron robes holds a tall garland of red, pink and white flowers on a staff, and other saffron-clad attendants walk alongside. A woman in a maroon sari stands with palms pressed together, a bare-chested man in white dhoti stands nearby, and a row of shaded stalls with striped awnings lines the street behind them.2009-07-13Outdoor street procession in a busy Indian town. A scaffold, shop signage and a red-and-white pole line the street.2012-09-11November 14 20052005-11-14July 13 20092009-07-13November 25 20092009-11-25A procession of men walks barefoot along a stone-paved path beside temple buildings with painted pink and yellow walls and palm trees behind. In the centre, a smiling man with long, swept-back dark hair and vibhuti on his forehead wears a white and marigold garland with a red and yellow flower accent, a saffron-orange robe with gold border, and a gold ceremonial necklace, raising his hand in greeting. Around him, devotees wear saffron robes and gold-bead necklaces with pendants, while others in white dhotis with saffron-gold borders and shaved heads walk alongside. The scene suggests a temple procession with the central figure acknowledging the crowd.2010-12-29A group of saffron-robed sannyasis walks barefoot along a paved street in front of a temple gateway. The central man wears an orange dhoti and shawl with gold borders and a long ornate gold bead necklace, with a red bindi on his forehead. Around him, men in white dhotis with gold-bordered shawls and white-and-orange-clad monastics carry a small brass vessel and an orange cloth bag. Sandalwood tilaka marks cover several foreheads, and rudraksha malas hang on many chests. Behind them, a metal gate and shopfronts line the street. Appearance cues alone are not sufficient to identify the central figure, so his role is described as a saffron-clad sannyasi leading the procession.2011-09-26Outdoor procession on a paved street with a bright yellow umbrella held over a central man in orange saffron robes, a rudraksha mala and a long gold-beaded necklace with a large pendant, and a decorated forehead.
