A long, low roof of dried straw or thatch rests on a framework of bamboo poles and wooden posts, with diagonal bracing poles leaning against the sides. Beneath the roof, stacked metal pipes or rods lie on crossbeams above a concrete plinth with red earth exposed inside its perimeter. Palm trees and a leafy branch frame the scene, and a small blue structure appears in the background. No people are visible.2007-06-05January 06 20122012-01-06A whitewashed rural building with a steeply pitched thatched roof of dried palm fronds sits on bare reddish earth. A wooden door stands open at the front, and a small window with shutters is on the side wall. A second thatched structure stands behind it at right, and a plain concrete-block wall is at left. A small blue stool and a plastic tray lie near the doorway. No people are visible. +1 copiesA photograph of a rustic thatched structure with a pitched roof and a small finial on the gable, its walls made of woven bamboo lattice panels set on a low concrete plinth. No people are visible.2006-12-10A rural village scene of a low mud-brick house with a bright turquoise painted wall and a thatched roof of dried straw and palm fronds, with a torn white cloth draped over part of the roof. A woven palm-frond fence stands to the left beside a concrete drain along a dirt road. A silver metal pot sits in the dusty yard, a yellow plastic bag lies on the ground, and a banana plant grows at the right edge beneath leafy trees and power lines. A chalk kolam-style design is drawn on a flat stone slab in the foreground. No people are visible.2007-03-03A rustic thatched shelter with a dried-straw roof supported by rough wooden poles, open on the front and enclosed at the back by woven lattice bamboo walls. Inside stand stacked sacks, a few red and blue plastic buckets, a metal pot and a steel container on the ground. A white chicken walks on bare reddish-brown earth in front of the shed, with scattered straw and dried sticks on the ground. A small patch of green foliage and a palm tree appear in the background. No people are visible.2007-03-18A photograph of a rustic open shelter with a thick thatched roof of dried palm or reed fronds laid over a bamboo frame, supported by long wooden poles driven into dry reddish-brown earth. The thatch is bleached grey-beige. Behind it rises a green scrubby hillside with scattered grey boulders and a rocky outcrop under a pale sky. A small white building is faintly visible at the right edge. No people are present in the scene. +1 copiesA photograph of an ashram construction site on dusty ground lined with palm trees. A steel-frame roof structure is being built, with a worker in a dark top climbing its rafters and a man in white clothing standing to the left beside stacked corrugated sheets. Two people in casual clothes walk along the sandy path in the middle distance, and another figure in white stands at right near piled timber. A low white wall, a cement-coloured building with a terracotta roof and a thatched hut lie beyond. No ritual or event is visible, only building work.2007-05-25 +1 copies
