In the foreground, several women in saffron-orange robes with rudraksha malas hold lit oil lamps (diyas) and make gestures of offering; one woman on the right wears glasses and a saffron robe, and another in the centre wears an orange garment with a beaded necklace and white forehead markings. A woman at left in a white sari with a red-brown mala holds a lamp, and others in white and orange sit behind them, many with white forehead markings and hands joined in prayer. Chairs, a table and a small brass tray with offerings are visible in the background, and the scene is lit with warm, bright light.2014-09-07January 08 20152015-01-08A large group of women and girls sit cross-legged on mats in a hall, most wearing orange and saffron saris and rudraksha malas, with white vibhuti lines on their foreheads. Several hold small brass oil lamps or aarti lamps with flames, and others hold brass vessels and offerings. Some women in white saris and red-clad participants sit behind them, and a row of metal stanchions runs along the right edge of the hall.2013-07-28
