He holds a brass lamp with a flame, pouring or lighting oil over a brass dish. Lit oil lamps, banana leaves, fruit, a brass vessel and a kalasha sit around the altar, with a striped woven mat on the floor. Other men in white dhotis and gold chains stand behind, with a figure in saffron clothing at the back. The scene appears to be a puja or aarti at a temple-style altar.2017-04-06A puja scene at a ritual site. A priest in white dhoti with a yellow-orange border reaches with his right hand to a silver camphor lamp burning with a flame, held over an ornate altar. The altar is draped in a deity's garment or decorated figure covered with beaded gold embroidery and rows of white jasmine garlands and red and yellow marigold garlands. Below, silver bowls hold rose petals, bananas, grapes, coconut halves and a covered silver vessel, with small oil lamps lit beside them. The floor is covered with colourful striped woven mats in pink, blue, green and orange. Another person in white sits at the back, partly visible.2017-03-16Photograph of a temple ritual. In the foreground a man in white dhoti and shawl, with a bare upper body, bows low with his forehead nearly touching the floor beside a small brass oil lamp with a lit flame. Behind him, a deity murti stands draped in garlands of red, yellow and purple flowers, with a red and orange silk cloth spread before it and scattered petals on the floor. Brass lamps, a kalasha-like vessel and a tray of offerings sit nearby, with a small fire pit smoking at left. Several people in white, yellow and orange-saffron clothing stand and kneel in the background against a red and white striped wall.2010-11-12April 17 20172017-04-17November 28 20152015-11-28March 16 20172017-03-16
