Five men are bathing and playing in the shallow brown river water near a riverbank, with a wooden boat with a purple cover and two rowers at upper left and a large grey vessel at upper right. A man in a white sleeveless vest and a beaded necklace stands at centre raising his fists and smiling, while a bare-chested man at left with a grey-smeared torso and a cord necklace claps his hands together. Others are partly submerged in the water, one in a dark top and one bare-chested with long hair. The setting is a riverside bathing scene during daylight, with a taut rope stretched across the water.

Two swimmers churn through rough, foamy white river water. The swimmer on the right wears a black cap with a white band and has his head turned above the surface, arms stroking through spray. A second swimmer at the left edge, bare-shouldered with a dark cap, reaches forward. The water is turbulent and milky with splashing whitecaps. No ritual setting or identifiable individual is evident, and the scene appears to be a river swim.

A photograph of a group of young men bathing in a river, standing waist-deep in greenish water and smiling at the camera. Several are shirtless or bare-chested, and one stands on the sandy bank at right, with a bicycle leaning nearby. Splashes of water rise at the right. Behind them are lush green trees, palm trees, a stone embankment at left, and a reddish-brown dirt slope under a partly cloudy sky.

Several people bathe waist-deep in a river with murky greenish water, with black floating buoys or pontoons visible at the top of the frame. A young man in a green t-shirt and black shorts stands in the center, pushing wet hair back with both hands. Beside him a bare-chested man rubs his face, a shirtless boy in the foreground wears a red thread necklace, and other men and boys stand or swim nearby, some partially submerged.

A large crowd of men and boys bathes in a wide, fast-flowing river with murky grey-brown water. On the right, many people stand on stone steps along the bank, some in white, some in colourful shirts and a woman in a purple garment, while others wade and swim. On the left, a dense crowd gathers near a flight of steps beside pink-walled buildings and a bridge. Many bathers are bare-chested, and a few men tug at a rope near the water's edge. The scene is a riverside ghat, with no visible deity, ritual fire or stage.

Two people swim through turbulent, churning brown-white river water, sending up heavy splashes and spray. The figure on the right, with wet dark hair and an arm raised, faces sideways and breathes above the surface, while the figure on the left is largely submerged with only the head and one arm visible. No identifiable a person candidate is present, and there is no ritual, discourse or ashram setting visible.

Photograph of a group of men and boys bathing in the river at Gaga Ghat, Varanasi, with many partly submerged in shallow brown water. Most are shirtless, some in dark swim trunks or briefs; one young boy in a green t-shirt and dark shorts sits in the water at right, and a boy at left smiles while wading. Behind them a long red steel bridge spans the river above a line of large black pontoon floats and a moored barge. No a person appearance is visible and no one can be identified in the scene.
