Outdoor ritual beneath a large banyan tree with sprawling aerial roots. A man in an orange saffron wrap and orange turban, bare-chested, stands on a rough stone platform and pours or adorns a dark black stone deity murti draped in red cloth and a white flower garland. Seated and standing women in white and yellow saris watch with hands folded in prayer, and a woman in a white sari with pink border photographs the scene. A brass oil lamp burns at the lower left beside a metal plate of offerings.

In the centre, a man in an orange saffron robe with long swept-back hair and a rudraksha mala stands barefoot holding a brass lamp with a flame, performing a ritual. Around him a crowd of devotees in white clothes stands with palms pressed together in anjali mudra, with some women in yellow, pink and purple saris. On the right, a stone deity murti is decorated with a flower garland in green, red and yellow, and a cobra hood sculpture is visible near the lower right. This appears to be an aarti or puja at a shrine under the tree.2006-07-232004 - First Sannyas Deeksha At AdiKailaasa2004-07-02
