A photograph of an outdoor shaded courtyard beneath a large, sprawling banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots. In the centre stands a man in a saffron-orange robe and shawl, one arm raised toward the tree trunk, apparently in a ritual or blessing gesture. Nearby, two women in white clothing stand with palms pressed together in prayer, and a few men in white and blue shirts stand or kneel at left with hands folded. A white-painted circular platform surrounds the tree base, and on the right a white pillar and a red-painted rock or shrine stand near a large black snake-like form on the ground. Sandy earth and dappled sunlight cover the ground.2010-01-04December 31 20092009-12-31December 31 20092009-12-31Outdoor photo beneath a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and a long horizontal limb. On a dark polished granite platform of square slabs on dirt ground, a figure in an orange saffron garment with a reddish-brown shawl and a white garland stands with hands folded at chest level. Two attendants in white dhotis and white shirts with yellow sashes stand to the right beside a low white stone wall, one holding an object. A stone bench and steps lead to the tree. The figure's face and hair are partly obscured and the person is not clearly identifiable, so a person is unsure.2010-10-05Outdoor photo beneath a large banyan tree with thick aerial roots and white-washed stone platforms around its base. A saffron-robed figure with a flaming oil lamp or arati flame raised in one hand and a red-and-white flower garland around the neck stands on a dark polished stone slab. To the left, another saffron-robed person holds a trident-topped staff and presses palms together in prayer, while figures in white clothes with yellow shawls stand nearby. The scene suggests an arati or puja at the sacred tree.2009-12-27December 27 20092009-12-27Outdoors under a large banyan tree with dense aerial roots, a group of devotees stands on a sandy path. In the foreground, a man in an orange robe with a rudraksha mala points upward toward the tree while others around him look up. Beside them, a man in a dark shirt and grey trousers and another in a white dhoti and shirt stand barefoot. Further back, several people in white clothing stand with hands folded in reverence near a stone structure at the tree base. A shrine with a deity murti is partly visible at left.2009-12-20A photograph taken outdoors beneath a large banyan tree with thick aerial roots and a dense green canopy. A barefoot man in an orange saffron dhoti and shawl stands on a low stone platform, his right hand raised in a blessing gesture, his face partly turned. Scattered rose petals lie on the platform and ground, with a folded white cloth and a small red-and-brown object near the base. Three people stand in front of him with palms pressed together in namaste: a woman in a turquoise top and white skirt, a man in an orange shirt and white trousers with glasses, and a woman in a white sari on the right. A video camera on a tripod stands nearby on the red earth.2010-10-09December 27 20092009-12-27Outdoor photograph beneath a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and a red-and-white garland tied at its trunk.
