Tangled electrical wires cross the lane. In the foreground, a man in a teal-blue shirt looks back over his shoulder beside a younger man. Further down the lane, pedestrians walk past shopfronts, and a cyclist pushes a cart loaded with metal cans. A red building and a yellow awning appear at the far end.A photograph of a red-painted temple facade with an ornate red wooden door, framed by a carved arch and whitewashed upper walls. A small red-orange deity murti sits in a niche beside the doorway, and an Om symbol is painted in red on the wall. On the left, a person in an orange robe and a man in a blue shirt stand at the doorway. On the right, a bare-chested man with a long swept-back hair knot, wearing a rudraksha mala and an orange-and-gold shawl, looks toward the shrine. Swamiji (probable): this figure shows long hair in a knot, rudraksha mala and orange shawl, consistent with the page's reference to Swamiji at this event.2014-01-30A multi-storey brick building with ornate cornices, arched balconies and wooden shutters stands on a street at dusk. A large banner reading Subh Laxmi hangs across the upper facade above shop fronts with signboards in Hindi and English. Iron railings edge the street in front, and a pedestrian is visible at lower left. No people are clearly identifiable as a person in the scene.2015-05-08Photograph of four men walking single file down a narrow stone-paved lane in an old Indian town, flanked by weathered sandstone buildings with overhead cables. In front, a man with long dark hair wears an orange-saffron robe and a large marigold garland, smiling and walking barefoot in sandals; the appearance is consistent with a person by his long hair, saffron robe and ceremonial garland. Behind him a man in white dhoti and kurta with a sacred thread walks with a staff, a man in a green shirt walks at left, and a bald man in an orange shirt and jeans carries a camera at right. A maroon signboard with Devanagari script hangs over the lane, and a stone carved shrine spire rises at right.2006-01-06A photograph of a Varanasi riverfront ghat with weathered multi-storey stone buildings, balconies and a clock tower on the right. A wide stone staircase leads down toward the Ganga, with stacked firewood piles on the right and a blue tarpaulin stall at lower left. Several people stand and sit on the steps and near the wood stacks, wearing ordinary dress, while a small group sits on the lower left steps. A white sign reads Mishra Guest House. The scene matches the Manikarnika Ghat area visited on the day, though no a person candidate is visible.2013-02-13A photograph of a walkway between two-storey cream and pale-yellow ashram buildings with pink and red pillars, arched balconies and ornamental lattice panels. Four people walk along the path: a figure in orange robes on the left near the steps, a woman in an orange sari, and two men in white kurtas with orange shawls, one carrying a dark bag. Trees and a green area stand at the right. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance.2008-07-10October 03 20152015-10-03 +1 copiesMay 14 20142014-05-14
