In the foreground a shaved-headed person in the blurred left corner watches the rite. Behind the pit a priest in a yellow dhoti and cloth stirs the fire with a long metal ladle into a silver bowl. A brass kalasha and oil lamp sit nearby on a metal tray with folded white cloths, on a red-tiled floor. Visible people are only partially shown, and no one is clearly identifiable as a person.2015-07-18Close view of a fire ritual at a brick-lined homa pit with a blazing wood fire. A hand in a bangle-wearing wrist holds a long silver ladle pouring liquid into the flames, and a silver bowl of orange liquid sits beside the pit. The brick altar is marked with white and red kumkum-style dots, with red and yellow flower petals and a bowl of flowers nearby. A person in red cloth sits behind, but no face is visible; no a person candidate is shown, so the people count reflects only partially visible hands and clothing.2011-12-14April 26 20182018-04-26 +1 copiesJanuary 11 20142014-01-11December 14 20112011-12-14December 10 20172017-12-10 +1 copiesA photograph of a homa fire burning on a square fire pit built from yellow-brown bricks, with tall orange flames rising from the centre. White rice-like grains and scattered flower petals, some red and pink, cover the bricks around the fire. A hand holding a brass bowl of liquid, a brass vessel, appears at the left edge, and a blurred figure in a purple and red garment is visible in the background. No people are clearly identifiable; the visible hands and clothing belong to a partially shown participant in the homa.2016-01-02
