May 26 20062006-05-26May 26 20062006-05-26A dark night photograph of a fire ritual at an outdoor homa altar. A large fire blazes on a low platform in the centre. A standing figure on the left in a reddish-orange robe holds a lit brass lamp or torch toward the fire. Seated figures in reddish-brown robes with rudraksha malas flank the fire, and an illuminated deity murti with ornate jewellery and garlands stands in the background among potted plants. Small lamps glow along the right edge.2006-10-21May 26 20062006-05-26May 26 20062006-05-26A dimly lit night ritual photograph of a homa fire. A priest in a red garment stands behind a low fire pit, holding a flaming torch or ladle over the rising flames and smoke. Behind them, a draped white and pink backdrop and green floral garlands frame a ceremonial area, with a decorated kalasha or pot at the right edge. Offerings lie on the ground in front of the fire pit. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance, so the figure is described by role.2010-02-12November 10 20102010-11-10A dimly lit night photograph of a priest in an orange-red garment and rudraksha-style beads performing aarti, holding a flaming lamp or camphor plate up before him while flames rise from a fire pit at the lower right. Behind him, pink and black draped cloth, a white curtain and a hanging garland decorate a stage, with a few seated figures barely visible in the dark background. The priest's face is in profile, lit by the flame.2010-02-12A dimly lit ritual hall during a night homa. A large fire burns at the centre of a low stepped platform in front of a deity murti surrounded by potted plants and flowers. Behind the altar, a large portrait hangs of a smiling figure wearing a white turban and a dark garment; the portrait is a depiction, not a physical person, and no appearance cues establish the identity of the figure. Several people sit on the floor around the fire in ritual positions. A standing figure in a red garment holds a lit lamp near the altar. A row of small oil lamps lines the right side. Strings of lamps hang from the ceiling on the left.2006-10-21June 01 20092009-06-01September 29 20062006-09-29January 03 20152015-01-03
