A night homa at an outdoor fire pit. A tall fire rises from a white rectangular altar box scattered with red flower petals and small offerings. A man with a shaved head and bare arm, wearing an orange-red garment and a silver bangle, pushes a wooden stick into the flames while smoke and sparks rise. Behind him, a second figure in white and orange clothing stands in the dark, and a parked vehicle and a dim building appear in the background.

October 07 20132013-10-07September 30 20132013-09-30A photograph of a homa fire ritual at dusk outdoors beneath large trees. A figure in orange-saffron robes sits behind a square fire pit built of white bricks, holding a long wooden stick or ladle over the flames. Bright orange fire rises from the pit, with sparks flying upward. Brass vessels and offering plates sit around the pit, and a small ornate gold deity shrine or kalasha-like object stands at the right edge. The ground is bare earth with a blue cloth spread nearby. The figure's gender and identity are not visually clear enough to attribute to a person, so the figure is described only by role as a ritual officiant.2006-09-21A figure in saffron-orange robes and an orange head wrap stands at the edge of a square brick fire pit at night, tending a wood fire with a long stick. The pit is whitewashed with red-painted decorative patterns on its rim. Flames and smoke rise from logs inside. Lit buildings, parked vehicles and a person in white holding a camera stand in the background, and a bare-chested priest figure with a saffron wrap is visible. The figure's appearance is not a clear enough match to confirm identity.2006-12-17December 31 20112011-12-31September 21 20062006-09-21Night photograph of a homa fire pit lined with white brick and sand, with a tall flame rising from burning offerings in the centre. A shaved-headed priest in an orange-brown saffron robe and a rudraksha mala sits on a striped cloth, using a long ladle to pour offerings into a brick-lined fire pit with tall flames. Silver bowls of grains and a small metal kalasha sit nearby. Two men in white clothing with red shawls sit at the left, partly visible, and a chair sits behind them. Sacred ash marks decorate the priest's forehead and arms.2013-03-31October 06 20132013-10-06October 07 20132013-10-07A photograph of a fire ritual at night in a dark temple hall. A large orange flame rises from a fire pit built of pale stone blocks, with a long metal ladle or spoon lifted at the right side of the flame. Behind the fire, a partly visible person in a red-orange garment and beaded necklace stands at the left edge, and ornate red and gold decorations and lit lamps fill the background. The scene suggests a homa fire offering.2006-10-21 +1 copiesJune 02 20152015-06-02
