A photograph of a homa fire ritual at night in a yellow-painted wooden fire pit with large flames rising and smoke drifting left. A man in a red-orange turban and red-orange cloth sits cross-legged at right, bare-chested with a long braid, holding a small object in his hands and looking down at the fire. Behind him to the left stands a second person in white dhoti and shawl with a striped border, holding a phone or small book. Brass vessels and a small plant offering sit on a cloth at the right edge, with scattered red petals near the pit. Two people are visible, with no clear identification of the seated man as a specific individual.2013-10-07Night photograph of a homa fire burning in a white-and-yellow stepped fire pit, flames rising high with smoke drifting left. A fire burns in a large square golden fire pit with patterned tiles, sending up smoke. A man in an orange-red turban, orange-red shawl, rudraksha mala and ceremonial gold necklace kneels on the right holding an open book and reading. Oil lamps stand beside the pit and marigold petals are scattered on a mat. Behind, several people in white clothes sit on mats, some near a drum. The figure matches the presentation of a person through the turban, orange robes and rudraksha beads, but this is an appearance-based label only, and he is described here as a priest leading the fire ritual.2015-11-18Night photograph of a homa fire pit at an outdoor ritual.
