A large orange flame rises from a brick-built fire pit with a white and red patterned cloth on its top edge, surrounded by smoke. A brass dish and a metal bowl of offerings sit beside the pit, and yellow marigold garlands hang at the right edge. Behind the fire, a shirtless figure sits in shadow, partly silhouetted, and a dim temple-like structure fills the background.2017-09-27October 01 20112011-10-01September 19 20152015-09-19August 25 20172017-08-25A photograph of a homa fire pit at night. Tall orange flames rise from a brick-edged square pit, consuming a heap of offerings and wood with red, orange and marigold-like petals scattered among the embers. Behind the pit, a white cloth with a green and brown border covers a table with small brass or clay vessels. No people are clearly visible; the frame shows only the fire and the altar area.2012-09-24 +1 copiesA square wooden fire pit with a tall, bright flame rising from its centre, with smoke drifting upward. In the foreground stand a small green plant or sprig in a glass vessel and two small metal cups, with marigold-like yellow flowers at the right edge. A bare forearm of a person tending the fire enters from the right, with a dark wristband, but no face is visible. The background is blurred warm tones. This appears to be a homa or yagna fire with offerings, and no one is identifiable as a person in the frame.2015-01-04A photograph of a homa fire pit built from stacked brick with a flame rising tall and smoke drifting upward. The pit surface is decorated with coloured rangoli powder in red, white and blue, and a metal bowl sits beside the flames. In the background a shirtless person sits in soft focus, partly obscured by smoke, with a steel plate of offerings and yellow marigold garlands at the right edge. The setting is dim.2017-09-27December 07 20162016-12-07Close photo of a homa fire burning on a low yellow-ochre altar platform scattered with red and orange flower petals. Bright flames and smoke rise from wood sticks in the centre, with a small brass or bronze bowl at left. Blurred, out-of-focus figures and fire appear in the foreground and background, and a partially visible arm in dark clothing reaches toward the fire at upper right.
