A priest in saffron-orange robes with a shaved head and a flower garland holds a flaming lamp or camphor flame over a decorated altar. The altar is draped in teal cloth and covered with white flower garlands, and it holds a black plaque with a framed portrait and printed text. Behind it is a large decorated arch with a bright yellow and orange circular backdrop, with brass oil lamps on the right. Three devotees stand to the right with palms pressed together in namaskar: one in white with an orange shawl, one in white, and one in an orange sari-style garment. The scene reads as a puja or arati ceremony.2006-11-12A young man in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl, wearing a long garland of red and white flowers, performs an aarti with a lit oil lamp in front of a decorated deity murti draped in orange and blue silk and adorned with flower garlands. Seated and standing devotees in white and orange clothes watch from the background within a covered hall with a painted garden backdrop and potted plants. The scene is a puja with an aarti flame offered before the murti. +1 copiesPhoto 117427412014-07-03Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Devalaya +2 copiesJanuary 03 20122012-01-03A domestic prayer gathering in a tiled living room where a group of about two dozen people sit on a green mat and floor cushions facing a shrine. A woman in an orange saffron sari leads the worship at the right, holding a small brass lamp, with a brass puja plate of fruit and flowers before her. A man in white shirt and dhoti sits near the front, and women in purple, red and blue saris and children in mixed clothing sit in rows. A television screen showing a religious image with a garland hangs on the wall, and framed pictures and a glass cabinet with decorative items stand behind them.2007-10-01Photo 11730886 +1 copiesOutdoor ceremony on bare ground at dusk. A person in saffron-orange robes with long dark hair and a yellow-and-white marigold garland kneels at the centre-right, placing a hand on a white stone-like block and a carved wooden pillar wrapped in white and yellow flower garlands. Around the block lie bananas, apples, a small brass dish, coconut pieces, scattered petals and an upright pink-and-white garland. Behind, several men in white kurta and dhoti and women in colourful saris stand watching, one holding a bundle and a metal bucket sits at left. This looks like a foundation-stone laying ritual with flower offerings.2006-05-19
