A multicoloured umbrella canopy is carried above the group. Robed sannyasis in saffron and orange lead the procession, several with shaved heads or long beards. Devotees in white and pastel kurtas and saris walk along, many with hands folded in namaskar. Garlanded portraits or murtis are visible at the back in the distance.2009-01-02December 30 20092009-12-30Outdoor photo of a dirt path lined with trees and a crowd walking together in a procession-like group. At centre, two men in saffron-orange robes walk side by side; the one in front has a shaved head, bare chest and a rudraksha-style mala, while the one beside him wears a long orange garment, a large ceremonial orange-and-gold garland and bead necklaces, and carries a small object in his hand. Around them, men in white dhotis and white shirts, one in a white shawl with gold border, walk alongside, and a bare-headed attendant in a white shawl with gold trim stands at right. A white tent and light poles are visible in the background under a pale sky. Whether the orange-clad figure is a person cannot be established from appearance alone.2011-12-08Outdoor photo of a group walking along a dirt path between orange-painted buildings and a corrugated green-roofed shelter, with palm trees behind. In the centre, a man in a saffron-orange robe and sandals, wearing a long rudraksha mala, walks forward. Around him, shaven-headed men in white dhotis and white shawls, some with sacred threads and some holding red books or small objects, walk and stand in conversation. A few people in orange robes appear at right, and a red-cushioned seat and small structures are visible in the background. The man in the centre shows distinctive saffron robes and rudraksha beads, but his appearance is not clear enough to confirm identity; he is described only by role.2010-09-08A photo of a group of devotees gathered on a paved courtyard in front of a temple compound with yellow Tamil-language signboards along a low wall and palm and shade trees behind. A man in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl stands centre with grey hair and a white beard, facing right, flanked by devotees in white dhotis and kurtas with orange shawls draped over their shoulders. A young boy in white shirt and shorts and a woman in a white sari with a red-orange border stand at right, and a man carries a black bag at left. Several others stand in a loose line near the signs.2008-08-03A photograph of a walk along a dirt path between orange-painted brick walls. In the centre, a figure with long dark hair wears a flowing saffron-orange robe and a long rudraksha mala, walking barefoot with sandals on the ground. Behind and beside him, several shaven-headed men in white dhotis with red borders walk in a loose group, some carrying bottles or papers. Another orange-robed monk follows to the right. A green corrugated-roof shelter, palm trees and a small shrine-like structure with a deity murti stand in the background.2010-09-08A photograph of a group walking along a dirt road toward a sign reading "WAY TO TEMPLE" on a black board, beside a grey block wall, green gate and palm trees. Several sadhus in saffron and orange robes walk barefoot, some with rudraksha malas and one with a red turban. Older bare-chested men wear white dhotis with orange shawls and beaded necklaces, and white-clad volunteers with lanyards walk alongside, one holding hands with a sadhu. A man in a saffron wrap carries a dark bag. Mid-day sunlight casts long shadows across the road.2009-12-30Outdoor photograph of a dirt courtyard before a whitewashed building with a signboard reading Sri Nithyaneshwara Temple, a palm tree and a red-and-white painted platform in the middle. Many devotees in white dhotis and saris wear orange shawls, and women in yellow shawls stand in the foreground, some holding offering items. A figure in white clothes stands at right near the temple entrance, while others walk through the courtyard in a slow procession. Some are shown bare-footed and blurred, with a cluster of people near the doorway and a red banner on the wall. No candidate for a person can be confirmed by appearance in the visible crowd.2008-10-27
