July 24 20052005-07-24July 24 20052005-07-24Night outdoor temple-procession scene with string lights overhead. A man with long dark hair and a vibhuti marking on his forehead, wearing a saffron-orange robe, a pink flower garland and gold-toned necklaces, holds a brass-and-green-leaf kalasha-style pot at the centre. Around him men in white shirts and dhotis and saffron-scarved devotees crowd close, while a man in white at the right pours from a vessel. Marigold garlands hang on a white pillar at left, with green leaves and bowls on the ground.2009-01-12A photograph of an outdoor ritual at dusk under tree branches. A man in a saffron-orange robe with a white and maroon flower garland and a gold-coloured crown or headband holds a lit brass oil lamp in one hand and a handbell in the other. Behind him, people in white clothes and orange shawls stand in a line; one holds a brass trident-tipped staff, and another at right holds a tray of flowers with hands folded in anjali. A silver-coloured arch and a dark stone mound with a patterned mat appear at left. Probable Swamiji is the central man in orange, identified by long hair, a crown-like headpiece, a saffron robe and a gold necklace. The scene suggests aarti with a trident staff in a procession, with about ten people visible.2007-12-25A photograph taken at night inside a temple-like colonnaded hall with white pillars and stone steps. In the foreground stands a man with long swept-back dark hair, a white tilak on his forehead, an orange saffron wrap and garment, a rudraksha mala, and a thick white and magenta flower garland around his neck, his hand resting on his chest. Behind him, several people in white and saffron stand in the dim hall, and a small oil lamp glows on the steps to the right. The figure matches the appearance cues of Swamiji (probable), based on his long hair, saffron clothing, rudraksha mala and garland. A dark stone sculpture is partly visible at left.2005-07-24Night photograph of a temple aarti at a procession. A man with long swept-back hair, wearing an orange saffron garment, a rudraksha mala and a wristwatch, holds a brass aarti lamp with a small bell and a flame. A man in white clothes and an orange shawl beside him holds a small red packet, and a woman in an orange top holds a bowl of flowers. Behind them, white-clad devotees crowd the area and an ornate decorated temple backdrop with striped patterns and gold is visible at upper right.2006-12-23Night procession photograph. A central man with long dark hair wears an orange saffron cloth draped over his shoulder and rudraksha beads on his chest, holding a brass aarti lamp with a lit flame aloft in his right hand. Behind him, a man in a white shirt and orange shawl also carries a brass lamp. A man on the left holds a brass handbell and a silver-tipped staff, and others in white clothes stand nearby. Colourful fringed umbrellas and a red-and-green cloth are visible in the background, and a woman in a pink top watches. The scene reads as a procession with aarti.2006-12-23July 24 20052005-07-24May 05 20122012-05-05Outdoor evening puja at a ritual table. A man with long swept-back dark hair, wearing a rust-red robe, a braided pinkish-red beaded mala and a heavy gold necklace, rests a hand over a silver puja tray while a second priest in rust-red robes and gold necklace holds his hands near an offering. Behind them stands a shaved-headed priest in ochre robes with a white tilak and a standing crowd. The table holds a white cloth-draped vessel, a brass plate, a silver bowl of pink flowers, silver lamp stands, an oil lamp, incense, and a floral arrangement with marigolds and white blooms. A dark pole stands at left. The lamp light gives the scene a warm glow.2013-05-27A temple ritual scene with a man in saffron-orange robes wearing a long white and red flower garland and a gold-beaded necklace, a red bindi and white tilak on his forehead, and bangles on his wrists; he holds white petals in one hand while another man in orange dhoti and shawl with white tilak carries a gold tray. Behind them stand a large deity murti and a tall multicoloured flower garland of red, yellow, green and purple blooms, with a gold hand-gesture sculpture above. Carved stone pillars frame the temple hall. Candidate appearance is a long-haired figure with several cues but this is uncertain, so the central man is described by role as a devotee performing an offering.2011-12-11August 17 20122012-08-17 +2 copies
