Dusk photograph at a riverside ghat, seen from behind. In the foreground a bare-backed figure with long, dark, wavy hair kneels or sits, holding silver trident-like staffs topped with curved finials. Beside them stands a figure in orange robes gripping a long wooden staff tipped with metal, next to a gold-fringed flag with a blue and green emblem. Behind them a crowd of seated devotees, many in white and light clothing, faces the water. Illuminated lamps line a bridge, and a red-and-white shrine tower rises at the far bank under a pink-grey evening sky.2006-06-04Evening procession at dusk with many lit torches along a riverside ghat and temple spires behind. In the foreground a long-haired man in an orange shawl, bare-chested with an orange wrap, faces left. Beside him a woman in a white garment and orange shawl with red beads holds a silver trident-shaped staff aloft. A young man in an orange shawl and white dhoti stands near her. Crowds in orange clothing surround them, and a large ornate red-and-gold ceremonial banner with floral embroidery hangs above at right. The photo is a candidate depiction of a person only if the bare-chested, long-haired figure in the left foreground is identifiable, but the cues are insufficient for that claim.2006-06-04June 04 20062006-06-04 +1 copiesJune 04 20062006-06-04Photograph at dusk on a river bank in Varanasi with the wide water and pale evening sky behind.
