May 14 20062006-05-14August 11 20052005-08-11Dusk at an outdoor shrine beneath a large banyan tree with dense overhead branches. A figure with long dark hair in an orange-saffron garment stands at left, holding a lit flame in a lamp or torch as an arati offering. Before them is a stone-framed arched niche with a dark stone deity murti or lingam wrapped in white cloth and garlanded with flowers, a metal kalasha or pot placed in front. Brass lamps, a plate of offerings and a small flame sit on a mat around a pebble-lined base edged in black and white stones, with a pink flower at the base. No other people are visible.2005-08-11August 11 20052005-08-11Night photograph of an outdoor shrine featuring a large black stone murti of a multi-armed deity seated on a pedestal, framed by an ornate silver arch decorated with yellow marigold garlands and green leaf garlands. A priest with a bare torso, white dhoti with a yellow-and-orange border, and a white-and-red tilak on his forehead stands at the left, waving a lit oil lamp and holding a brass bell. The base is coated in bright orange paint, with a small shivalinga-like form and scattered yellow flowers. Dense trees surround the scene. This is an abhishekam-style puja at a deity shrine; the lone person is a priest, so a person is none.2010-01-01December 23 20052005-12-23Dusk outdoor scene at a shrine. A man in orange robes stands at left holding a lit oil lamp (aarti) toward a black stone murti seated on a pedestal under a carved silver arch, draped in orange cloth and garlanded with white and red flowers. A smaller orange-clad seated figure with a garland sits on a red-painted rock platform beside it, and a brass kalasha-style vessel stands on a red cloth-covered table in the foreground. Dark trees surround the scene.2006-12-10Night photograph of a temple shrine under dark trees. A black stone deity murti with multiple arms, wearing a rudraksha-style bead necklace, stands within a silver arched frame decorated with yellow marigold garlands and green leaves. A priest in a white shirt with a light tilak on his forehead holds a brass oil lamp with a lit flame toward the murti. In the foreground, three devotees with dark hair face the shrine with their backs to the camera; one has hands pressed together in prayer. An orange cloth lies at the base of the shrine, and a small plaque is visible on the pedestal. The scene suggests a puja or aarti at the shrine.2010-01-01September 17 20112011-09-17June 30 20102010-06-30
